Hey there...today I wake up and decide to play my PS3 but when I go to turn it on a red screen pops up with all these different languages, and I cant seem to get rid of it. I even turned it off and turned it back on and it still pops up. So if there is anyone else who has had this happened to them and they were able to fix it please help me out. My warranty is over and I don't feel like paying Sony $150 to fix it and have to wait about a month to get it back. So if anyone has any helpful advice I would gladly appreciate it.

I've heard of yellow light, but never a red screen on the PS3.


I suppose the best thing you could do if you can't get an answer here is to look up information thoroughly through the internet.

legacyme3 : Yea that's exactly what my PS3 is doing but the red screen on mine pops up as soon as I turn it on.... and its ticking me off lol. I mean my PS3 has had some other problems in the past  like the YLOD and the corrupted hardware, but I was able to fix those problems myself. As for the red screen I cant seem to get rid of it and I looked around online to see what may have caused it and I only seen two causes. Overheating and the blue ray laser is out of balance. I know my PS3 didn't over heat since I haven't played it in 2 weeks and from what I read the only way the laser can be moved out of sync is if the PS3 is overheated. So right now I am lost.

I never heard about a red screen man never had a problem with my PS3 paid 260 for it had mine for almost 6 months now and nothing wrong with it but a red screen that's a first is yours a slim or old model cause mine is a slim thanks for posting this now that I know what might happen to mine and hope it never does

Korn09 : Mine is an old model got it the first day it came out. I never had any problems with my PS3 until I think it was when the PSN went down because of the hackings. After that that's when my PS3 started getting the YLOD, corrupted hardware and now this....

Right now, it seems like the problem is with your Blu-Ray laser, so things will have to get technical. It's better than sending $150 to Sony though.
