Just in case you didn't know Earthbound Zero/Mother 1 had Ninten as the main
Earthbound 1/Mother 2 was the one with Ness
Earthbound 2/Mother 3 was the one with Lucas

My favorite was Mother 3 because it had a great Story a lot of emotional stuff was in it and it was really fun!

I enjoyed Earthbound 1 the best, mostly for the overall quirkiness of it.

Mother 3 is a bit too grim and depressing for my taste, still enjoyable though.

I think Mother 3 was the best out of the 3. It had the deepest story, and it was told in such a way that it was all connected in the end. I think it was a satisfying ending to the Mother series.

I voted for EARTHBOUND, mainly because it was the first one of the series I played. It was whimsical and had a good story. I have played MOTHER 3, and while that story was deep beyond my imagination, I was too used to EARTHBOUND's system.

Earthbound will always be one of my favorite games of all times.  I simply loved it:  the characters, the story, the fighting style, the music, etc.  It was really hard for me to put the game down!  Also, I truly love longer video games, and this game took up plenty of time to finish.  I enjoyed it immensely.

I liked mother 3 the most. It was a very fun, and challenging game, where you would have to spend quite a bit of time grinding (leveling) in order to proceed to the next area. Then you would have to grind some more, and move. A new feature that helped play the game a lot more, was the combo system. It allowed you to press the button with the music, and really rack up the amount of damage you inflict. The music of it was very creative and some were emotionally stirring. The ending of it literally scared me, and the battle the was directly before it, was saddening. I give this game two big thumbs up.

Oh, and I also played through it again, using the hard mode trick to make it REALLY hard. It made it much more time consuming, what with all the grinding that was necessary.

I have to say mother 3. The music and rhythm-based battle style is great to me. Mother 2, or earthbound, would be my favorite if the main characters had at least SOME dialogue like the mother 3 crew does. I kind of like the story line of earthbound better, though.
