Over the past couple of days, leggy and I have come to a decision: in general, layouts suck.

So what are we gonna do about it? For the rest of July, leggy and I aren't going to use a layout at all. At all. It might seem bold to some, but in reality, its the only sane thing to do. Why?

Most layouts have at least one of the following:

  • A really, really bright background that clashes with everything else
  • A small background that doesn't loop
  • It stretches the page
  • The font is hard to read/unreadable
  • There's a big ass picture of something that has nothing to do with the layout at all
The purpose of this movement is to show that there is more to posts then just layouts. When people look at your post, they shouldn't think "Ooh! Look at that good layout! (or rather, look at that BAD layout!)", they should think, "Wow! What a good quality post!". That's what we're trying to achieve. How can you join?

I'm in.

I think my layout is quite good but even it has flaws. The text box that displays is quite small and any large post or post with pictures needs to have the layout removed in order to be read properly.

I've felt this way about layouts for a long time. I'd prefer no layouts across the board and generally have used the option of not loading them at all on Vizzed.

I personally came to Casu with the idea, because I agree with him, believe it or not.

Why am I doing this though? What will it accomplish?

I'm doing this, because I think in a roundabout way, it will get people's attention, and they'll realize you don't need a flashy layout to have a good post.

I invite anyone to join.

All you have to do is delete your layout.

I've had layouts turned off for a long time. I find them tedious. So, this doesn't really change much for me personally. It'll look strange for a lot of other people though.

Moving on I agree lay outs mostly suck. Which is why I flat have them off. I rarely turn it back on because it slows everything down and also most layouts are noob tastic. So yes I am in.
