So as some of you know I am on vacation. So we went to one of my favorite pizza places here on the lake. So all is well and I am sitting with my two brothers when this waitress (easily 17 and out of my league) keeps staring at me. She was working but kept looking at me. I was not doing anything weird and I was not really paying attention to her but she stared away. So this is really a question behind this story. What do you think she was staring for? I mean I am not bad looking but I am not staring material... Do you think she was desperate or something because she went up to talk to me but then stayed silent and walked off after I said hi, she smiled. So what is up with this girl?

And girls why do you stare and smile at guys that is really confusing...

I think you're reading too much into this.  Remember that she's in the service industry.  She may have been watching to make sure you were satisfied with your food or to see if you  need a refill.  I worked as a waiter years ago.  We keep eyes on our tables.  She may not have been staring; she was making sure you got service with the family.

Or she was indeed staring at you.  If you think a girl is looking, say hello and talk to her.  There's nothing wrong with manning up, growing a pair, and talking to girls.  The more you do the more you get comfortable with it.  Girls like guys with confidence.  Build it up and you'll be unstoppable.

Well normally in such situations it's good to greet, and then ask around in the limit of a general topic, talk about the pizza, place , service ,a general talk, afterward only you will be able to know roughly what's going on in her mind, then you bring the main topic....
But you should always talk so that you feel always light....the benefit is  when you go home you will not question yourself about her...

Sometimes I tend to stare at people if I think they look interesting. I'll stare at their face or hands and take in every detail.
