I watched a movie recently that is normally considered the worst movie of all time: Plan 9 From Outer Space. While it is comically inept, it is not the worst movie of all time. The reason that I say this is because you have to take into account what the director was working with (1/13th of the necessary budget, and maybe a tenth of the time to film) and even without that I seen worst. 

Thus, I want to find out what the users on this site thinks is the worst movie of all time? If you can, please take into account hype and expectations vs final result, initial resources for final result. initial potential and execution and whatnot.

well its ed wood what do you expect? but it can't be that bad since it is good for a laugh their for can't be the worst...oh btw is it true there gonna make a remake for it?  

DARKANINE : Yes, it is true there is going to be a remake. Actually, James Rolfe already got all of his scenes filmed in it so it looks like it is in production stages currently. I expect to see it sometime in late 2012 truthfully. This is a case in which I encourage a movie being remade: when the original concept was good but poorly executed for various reasons. The original I felt heavily suffered from having a lower production value than it should have, and the remake should fix it.

I actually don't dislike Ed's real filmography (his pornographic films I am not including as I have never seen them nor do I plan to) and I actually immensely enjoyed Bride of the Monster. 

However, what do you think is the worst movie of all time?

Missi And The Maxinator. Graphics looked like they were made with MS paint, Acting was God awful and the plot was crap

The Super Mario Bros. movie. The one that was made 20 years or so ago. Don't ever make me watch it again. ;-;

Yes, I found numerous top 50 and top 100 lists citing the worst movies, but they often fail to take "input vs output" as a factor. As well, a lot of these lists simply copies each other. I also gone through the Z movie listings, but I'm hardly convinced however.

I'd have to say "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", it was so bad and cliche that it's hilarious.

The worst movie I saw was Super Mario Bros. The only reason I watched it was to see how bad it was.

I'm sure about 8/10 people who read this are going to either hate me for this or just disagree because they prefer not to hate people over movie choices  But I would have to say Napoleon Dynamite. Now, I know that television didn't really give this movie a lot of hype. The only commercials I really ever saw for it were on Comedy Central, and it told you nothing about the movie. I actually didn't see it until like almost 2 months after it came out on DVD. But this movie had a LOT of hype from almost everyone I knew. They were all talking about this movie and about how unbelievably hilarious it was. So I finally decided to see it, and it is one decision I truly regret. I do not know why this movie gets so much praise from people. Even when you take away the element of comparing hype of the movie to how bad it was, it is still the worst thing I have ever made myself sit through. 

For me it was The Passion Of The Christ - I got dragged there by a religious girlfriend that i had at the time and well.. clearly I'm not the audience for it. If I had to go with a movie that I wanted to see or wasn't bothered about seeing initially.. I would have to go with 8 Mile.. ugh.

Interesting choices so far...Looks like I should start compiling a list made purely on vizzed votes.

Dark Carnival.  Not scary, and so terribly cheesy.  As people are being strangled by animated gelatin tentacles, the worst line ever is spoken: "It's just gelatin!  Eat it!"

Hm... I would say the Street Fighter movie, but its..weird. I find it hilarious, to be quite honest. Maybe it's one of those kinds of movies where its so bad its good?

Don_Rob : Yeah you get movies like that, and if Street Fighter the movie managed to provide comedic value, then it isn't the worst movie of all time. To truly qualify as the worst it has to be atrocious in every respect and has to have absolutely no enjoyment factor on any level.

That brings up an interesting debate factor as well...what defines a bad movie? Is it not being very technical, despite having a lot behind it as far as passion goes, or having a very technical film that does everything "right" but it just has no enjoyment value. For the latter of the two, I will use Citizen Kane. Oh yeah, i'm going there. While it is doubtlessly a high value production and highly technical and innovative film, it is just dull to try and watch for me which makes all the artistic value worthless.

The Room

Hands down, worst movie of ALL time. Even the Rifftrax version blew my mind, but it made it possible to sit through once. I will gladly watch Napoleon Dynamite (which I hated), all the Twilight movies (also hate), and Plan 9 on a loop rather than see this movie ever again.

Now, if we are talking bad for production values AND a stupid story... Birdemic. The difference is that they set out to make the worst movie ever.

The worst movie in my opinion is Creature from the haunted sea. I didn't like the story and the effects were terrible even for its time.

Hmm...did anyone ever hear of the movie "The Killer Shrews" and how high or low do you think it ranks?
