turns out they have already released 5.0 (in beta)..... I'm actually quite surprised it has come this fast. I think I just got switched to 4.0 on all the machines I use (work and home) and now 5.0 is coming out. I really hope it keeps improving like 4.0 has done over 3.0 (in my opinion)....

any other thoughts on this?

geeogree : i already downloaded it.i hated it and reintstalled v 4. The layout of things sucked,it didnt save tabs when i closed browser and the menus were confusing and had half the things removed.

And I think you have to set it to save tabs when you close the browser.... that wasn't automatic for me with 4.

And what was removed? I'm so confused that it can be out for such a short amount of time, be as similar looking as it is (to me at least) and you hate it enough to go back to 4

Sorry to bust your boat but I like Google Chrome a lot better. That being said the new Firefox is very good and I would choose it if I could not use Google Chrome. Firefox is still my strong second choice and depending where they take 5.0 they could be my first again.

well on v 4 the tabs are well laid out and easy to find etc, when i installed 5 i couldnt find half the options even after going through alol the menus.
i didnt notice any speed increase.
also it tended to crash more for me than version 4.
i think they tried too hard to be like othr browsers, i like firefox because it dosent usually do that.
i did see a lot of pages that had people agreeing with that and prefering 4 but now i cant find them which is annoying.
i really prefer 4 and i hope they continue support for that version instead of trying to make me redownload 5, if it does get to that stage ill probably just switch to google chrome.
it was quite a while ago that i had v 5 but i still remember i hate it, i cant remember clearly all the reasons, maybe once its not in beta stage it will be more to my liking but im not hopefull.

edit- and i tried to set it to save them thinking that might have been disabled in the update but i couldnt find it in the option menus

FireFox 5 already!?! Wow that was fast, it took them forever to come out with 4. I hope 5 is a lot more improved, for the time.

Actually, I've received a notification a couple of hours ago, if I want to install the new FireFox. I was doing some stuff then, and I didn't want to close or restart anything, so I didn't download it. Also, there are usually many bugs on my language, so I usually wait a couple of weeks or so, to make sure that they'll have been fixed by then.
But it was really a fast update, it hasn't been long time, since I've installed the 4 edition. Probably I'll download 5 too in my language in a few weeks, just to make sure that there will not be so many bugs.

Didn't the new version come out just last month? Well I don't expect much more from this since it came out that fast. But if it is then good for us

well, if it has been out for a while I wasn't aware. I think I downloaded 5.0.3 so it's not the first version of the program.... but maybe it's the first really stable one.

I downloaded it. I had 3.9 or 3.6 or something before this version. Something was wrong with my 3.something version where the browser window took a while before opening. Somewhere around 30 seconds. It annoyed the hell out of me and I started using Chrome until a short while ago because of it. I guess I needed a new version, or at least a reinstall to fix that problem. I don't see anything wrong with FF5 yet. Not that I look into the details.

The new version did come out pretty quick, its pretty ironic they took a long time for Firefox 4 and get this quickly? Pretty weird, but good progress.

pacman1755 : well, I don't think it's a bad thing.... more versions hopefully means more improvements to speed and features and the like.

Yeah I updated to 4.0 last week, since having been in school comp. lab, and not my own comp. Got 5.0 last night. I think its great, I like the new CSS support. Waiting for the next update!
