Is this poetry? In my opinion it is not. I think that it is kind of just a jumbling of words. Well here is my best impression of the type of poem. There is no ryming or over arcing anything.

The dark horse looks to the sky and yells.
The skies open to the moon as it shines down in a purple haze.
The moon tells the horse come to me.
The horse rumps and curls its tail and gets on the moon.

Sorry that I am such a shotty writer.

Ha ha, I guess you can call it poetry. Poetry doesn't necessarily have to rhyme...it's about feeling. I'm no poet, but my favorite poems are the ones that aren't obvious and make me think and interpret what the writer is saying.

Your story doesn't make me do that but continue to write it's a great hobby.

Like YourMajestyKen said, it's not always about rhyming, it also about how you I guess structure, like syllables, and things like alliteration, but rhyme is good, most importantly content.
