There is a reason why Pit Bulls haves a bad name and it's not because of their nature. That's far from the truth. It's the people that treat them horribly and use them in dog fights, mistreat them and beat on them what gives them the bad tempered nature. It is why a lot of Pit Bulls are unruly euthanize because of their behavioral manor. I see nothing wrong with them. They just need a owner who knows what they are doing with these breeds and know how to raise them into a family loving pet.

See my family owns three Pit Bulls. One red nose Pit Bull, One Gator Mouth Pit Bull (A dog with a large mouth. We southerns call them that) and a black Pit Bull with light and dark brown markings. I think it's called a Bridal Pit Bull. Basically these three pits are not vicious and very playful. I can let my smallest Chihuahua in the room with them and they do nothing at all and sometimes even play with them. I have to watch so they don't accidentally hurt him from playing too rough.

If people can quit treating these dogs the way they do. They wouldn't have such a bad name. Pit Bulls can be a great family pet even protect us from the actual terrible people that would bring us or them harm, but all they use Pit Bulls for is for breeding and fighting.  These dogs deserves so much better than the lives they live in. They don't deserve such a bad name looming over them like that. What do you think about Pit Bulls? Share your thoughts on the matter.

I agree. I've seen many pitbulls that are pretty docile, and I've already come to the conclusion that they simply become aggressive depending on how the owner raises them. Heck, the owner might train them to be ferocious just because they think that bulldogs have to be ferocious.

I agree with everything you just said. My first dog was a mutt, but she has some pit in her and you couldn't find a better dog. She was loyal and loving and just loved to play with you. She was protective of us and actually had to use that quality a time or two. Annabel was an amazing dog who I miss to this day.

vizwiz123 : Exactly. I don't even see Bulldogs to be ferocious either. It's just bad ownership. They don't deserve such great dogs like that. Heck, I'm proud to call the pits I have my dogs. I just got to get them to quit chasing cats. Lol, they don't want to tear the cat up. They just never seen one before and curious and when the cat bolts. That just trigger an instinctive reaction. Predator chases prey so to speak.

rlmathias01 : I'm sorry you don't have her any longer. She seemed to be a wonderful dog. Pipper our Gator Mouth. She's a very large dog, but she loves it when you scratch just right above her tail and she will love you forever. Thor is the Bridal Pit. He's still a puppy so he still have a lot of energy and Shasha the Red nose one. She's the ice queen. If she can't lay in your lap. No one can. She's sweet. Just have jealousy issues.

Natas : I completely agree! I, personally, think pit bulls, at least the ones I met, are pretty cute and nice! Playful, too =)

It's sad how they've been abused and neglected. I understand why they're violent after that...

thenumberone : It's not the dog's fault. You see, the reason why the pit attacked your dog because it had a lot of pent up energy. The dog is tense and skittish and if you don't react the right way and in time and the way your dog reacted to him. How did your dog reacted? I'm a little knowledgeable when it comes to do. I've study the whole Ceaser Millan (Dog Whisperer)

Snowdeath : Exactly. Pit Bulls are great companion when they are raised in the right family and my Pits are great dogs and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I am actually friends with a LOT of people in who own pitbulls and/or
are concerned for the rights of pitbulls, so I am very familiar with
this issue. You are exactly right. If pitbulls are dangerous it is because of how they are raised and trained. Almost any big muscular dog has the potential to be that dangerous if it is abused, neglected, antagonized, used for dog fighting, etc.

I have heard stories of people living in the UK being unable to bring their dog with them to America just because their dog is a pitbull cross. Basically the dog was banned based on what he looked like, no other evidence as to his behaviour mattered! It's really sad.
