only in hockey? really? are you that ignorant of sports that you think only hockey fans have started riots? Every sport has a riot to it's name. Riots about hockey are actually few and far between.

It is generally accepted that the people who caused the riot came to Vancouver with the intent of starting a riot for no reason- As in, they would have been troublemakers whether or not the Canucks won or lost. In fact, I doubt most of them were even from Vancouver. They just wanted to mess sh** up and then run back to their home towns.

95% of the crowd were adolescent men in an alcohol-induced rage. I would not call them hockey fans. Real hockey fans accepted the loss and went home. They did not stay behind to trash the Canuck's home town.

I am so saddened to see one of the prettiest buildings in Vancouver to be burned (The Bay building) and the destruction of Robson street, which I was walking down just last week... Now all of the storefronts have been destroyed and looted. Watching it happen on TV made me SO ANGRY.

I feel ashamed and disgusted that the majority of the people participating in the riot were from BC. I'm almost embarrassed to be a Vancoverite, save for the fact that nearly 10,000 people from the Lower Mainland are volunteering this following week to clean up the mess in Downtown. That is what Vancouver is really about...!!

What really ticked me off is some of the guys causing a mess were wearing Free Marc Emery hoodies. Marc is recognized as a hero in this city. His famous Cannabis Culture headquarters is six blocks away from the Downtown core. To wear his likeness while running around shaming Vancouver is beyond stupid! How DARE they!

Thankfully, order seems to be restoring, if any city can recover it's Vancouver.

Some of those images leaked on the internet are god awful though.

It's amazing what aa person can actually do when they want to raise hell.

I apologize for saying the riot was hockey related, reading through what some of the people said, I highly doubt most of them were even doing it over the game. It's still appalling, and even more appaling some tried to defend their actions.

In the end, it's a bunch of stupid ass people doing stupid ass things. Thank god I've never been involved in a riot.

That riot earlier did seem like it was a violent place to be in. I was pretty surprised that something that huge would happen. I'm glad there's a lot of people who have volunteered to help with the damage, though.

Yeah, I wasn't even remotely involved in the riot, I only assumed it was from hockey "so-called fans" from the news. 

It still sucks, though, the fact Canucks would return to their hometown only to find it half-ruined. 

Talk about being ungrateful to their epic and hardworking effort. 

*edit* and the 10,000 helpers being actually grateful for the Canucks' effort and decide to volunteer to clean up will help them feel grateful. :3
