I don't have one right now, so that's nice.

Normally in more warmer climates I don't get them whatsoever, which has led me to connect them with the cold.

Yes. It actually doesn't bother me nearly as much as something like an upset stomach. I usually tend to eat/drink something warm so that it kinda feels like it soothes the throat.

  I always wish that I could get a little sick so that I could just stay home for a couple days, but now for the past 2 weeks or so, I have been dealing with bronchitis, and it is very unappealing for me to talk, eat, breath, etc.  It has however helped me in my efforts to stop smoking, so that is a plus to getting sick.  I guess I just have to dress warm and stay away from other sick people and I'll be fine, cause those are about the only time that I get sick... I guess I'll o and become a hermit then, geez.

Yes, although I don't get sick all that often, I just had a big sore throat a couple of weeks ago. I eventually got through with it with days of cough drops, tea, gargling, etc. I think it slightly upset my stomach too, but I never threw up.

I broke my arm wrist and hand about a week ago and had to have a bunch of metal plates and pins put in to secure it, luckily the hospital I was at put me on an IV drip so I didn't feel much pain through the whole thing up until they discharged me. Now they've given me these painkillers but the sheer amount I have to take even with water is giving me the sorest throat I think I've ever experienced so I'm glad you brought the sore throat thing up so I could b**** about my throat problems a bit he he but meh its either my throat hurts a lot or my arm feels broken again so I guess just grinning and bearing it will have to suffice.

Who hasn't? I have a terrible sore throat right now, and it's driving me nuts.    It feels like I'm harboring a flaming ball of needles in my throat.  Gargling warm salt water usually works though, or even adding some lemon into the mix.

I wonder if it's good for your general health as well?

A couple of weeks ago I had a good chest cold. I’m happy that I caught it early because I felt congested and was wise enough to know that it wasn’t just allergies or something like that. I took a week and didn’t really do much other then rest and I pretty much nipped it in the bud. I’ve gotten full blown flu’s before that is the worst. I try now when I feel something to catch it so it doesn’t get too bad. Allergies though are a regular nusence for me and that is what often leads me to getting sore throats. Life savors are good when you have one. It’s helped me many times.

Sore throats are horrible! there was one time where I had one of the worst sore throats ever that I kept multiple bottles of water near me, a bottle of honey and a spoon right nearby should I wake up or be unable to get to sleep due to it. Still, I found bad coughs worse than a sore throat, as those can wake you up and have you stuck coughing intermittently.

Honey REALLY helps here though. Someone once told me milk and honey helps, but I would think the milk would make you really phlegm-y. Orange juice helps when the sore throat is due to mucus, but otherwise can just hurt. I also enjoyed ginger ale, sometimes making it flat to sooth my throat.

I hate sore throat! It always hurts to cough, and sneezing is painful too. I always chug orange juice. It kind of works, but you need to take some multiple times for it work well. It works almost every time, and the pain only lasts for the day.

I've never heard that honey helps, but that's very interesting to know. Do you mix it with anything, or just swallow a spoonful?  I suppose it works a lot like cough syrup and coats your throat?

I still have a sore throat.  It wasn't TOO bad yesterday, but due to my lack of sleep (because I'm trying to finish grading papers), it's worse today.

I had a terrible bout recently that lasted for like a week. Well, actually I had a sore throat, then it kind of went away. About a month or so afterwards, my throat hurt again. I couldn't swallow or lie down or anything without my throat feeling closed and in pain. I went to the student health care center on campus and they didn't even think my throat looked red or anything. So the only thing I can think of is that I pulled some throat/jaw muscle from blowing into the trumpet for the first time in like a year. That's never happened before, and I really want to play my trumpet again, but now I'm sort of scared to do so.

yes, if its really bad I'll take a family recipe called "the recipe" pretty orginal right.  I believe it has wiskey, honey and some other things but tastes awful. However when you wake up youre fine so its worth it.
