Just received the word a couple of days ago from my mother that my youngest brother and his wife are having another child! Not certain about the due date as yet, nor do I know the gender but, given the pattern thus far, it's probably going to be another niece...but one never can tell.

They already have two daughters: Skyla, who is 5 now, and Kayla, who is 3 (I think...). But this news of another little bundle comes as the best news I've heard all month...aside from my other brother returning from North Carolina soon.

I hope, no matter the gender of the new arrival, that all of that new little person's wishes come true; save one...that way, they've always got something to strive for.

Well good luck with your new neice/nephew I remember when my parents adopted my 3 year old sister back in 07. It was a special time for the whole family. I do believe that charm never seems to go away. I still spoil her when I can. She's like my own daughter (but I'm too sick to have one). I am old enough to have her as a daughter but it was safer for her to be adopted by my parent's and not me.

Btw are you ever wanting a child of your own?

Aw, congratulations for your family! I am always excited when my relatives and friends tell me that kind of news, but then again who isn't?

That is a good question that RequiemHaunt brings up, do you want children of your own? Personally, I like children and babies in small doses, but I don't know if I would make a good parent, or if it would even make me happy to have children at all...

I'm the oldest of three in my family, all sons. And as fate would have it, I'm also the half brother of the family, being born before my mother was married. But fortunately, my family doesn't believe in those technicalities; and as such, I regard my sisters in law as the "in law" is dropped. They are sisters, even if by marriage alone.

My wife is incapable of having children; her third pregnancy ended in a tubal burst, and the doctor said another pregnancy would be lethal. I'm going to continue to turn out scripts, hoping and praying that God will allow us to make enough to attempt an adoption (I'd like to move out of my current apartment to allow for that). A baby is impossible now, but an adopted child would be just as good.

But for the moment, I'm quite satisfied to be an uncle. I don't see my current nieces as much as I would like to, but that's up to my brother to decide, not to me.

DigiXros1971 : thats too bad about your wife, but on the plus side you guys will make someones life alot better than it would be if you adopted.
Iv got 2 brothers and 2 sisters,im also a half brother but iv never given it thought.my two brothers arent even related,my dads first wife died and she'd had twins with a previous partner so my dad adopted them.
Family dosent have to be blood,i can apreciate that more than most,oh also im the youngest.
Not that it really matters but are you saying that youre sisters do or dont have the same mother?i may be confused but isnt a half sister a 1 parent relation and one with no relation a step sister?
As in i have two half sisters and two step brothers.
I could be mistaken

The only sisters I have are "in law." I'm the oldest of three and the only half brother, as I was born 5 years before my parents married.

It does suck that my wife can't bear children of her own but I think it's God telling me that it's time to repay the action my father did with me, as I was adopted by him in '77. It's time I adopted at least one to honor what he did for me when I was a child.

And I was adopted into a family where there are no "steps" or "halves." You are simply family as if you were born into it. My brother whom serves in the Army is also in the same boat as me; his wife is incapable of bearing, so that's going to make for one interesting family if we both end up with an adoption.

Since the last failed attempt to bring a child into the world by myself and my wife, I've geared myself to where any money made from my writing will be used to set up for adoption, and whatever isn't used for that purpose will be donated to places that perform the adoptions, and toward places that both fight and aid in recovery on domestic violence cases.

That is really unfortunate. It sounds like it must be tough. But good for you for looking at it in a positive light. I hope everything goes well for you and your wife so you can have the means to adopt.
