I would die of happiness if X9 was announced, the story has to continue after X8 (which was an amazing game and extremely underrated)
But I don't think that would happen anytime soon, if ever. Keiji Inafune left Capcom a long time ago and Capcom probably won't give the games rights to Inafune.. it's possible that a Mega Man game could be good without him, X8 was great even though he hardly had anything to do with it, but X6 and X7 weren't... the best games to say it mildly..
Ah... Mega Man's future is unclear.. ;~; 
Anyways, I prefer X9 coming out, but Mega Man Legends 3 is more likely to be released. Even though Capcom cancelled it, but this group COULD maybe change something

There is gonna be a Mega Man online game though, but it will only be released in South Korea as far as I know.. WHY ONLY THERE CAPCOM!? WHY?! But if you look here:

To be honest I think that they'd make a Mega Man 11 before a X9 or Legends 3, if they continue to make the games. As far as I know, Legends 3 is an abandoned project so that seems unlikely. Also, Sigma is dead so X9 would have to build off of another antagonist.

I would rather see Mega Man Legends 3. While X9 may sound like a good idea, we are not sure as to what they would do with it, whereas with Legends 3 we got some kind of insight as to what the result may have been.

I have never played legend or x-series another star force would be nice or a megaman RPG on 3DS are what I'm looking out for.

What new "Mega Man" would I like to see?
I think with all of the advancements "Capcom" has made with the "Devil May Cry" series, Id like to see a new platform style game starring Mega Man and Zero from the "X" series. In 3-D.
Make the classic set up of 2-D platform style an unlock-able Feature or something you have to play through when the life-bar hits Zero.
Advancements have been made to modern games. I think a leap forward with a salute to the classic elements is all that is needed. Move forward. And Enjoy. The beauty about the mega man series is there is little to no story to speak of till the "X" series. And... none is needed.

"Legends" is fun, but I have a little trouble getting into the "innocent" little demolisher that was intended for the mega man of those games. I'm not saying it can't work. (They made 2 of those games.) I just like the first and second incarnations of "mega man" more.

I think Capcom should really give us X9 because if you beat all 3 story modes ( X Axl and Zero)  we still dont know what becomes of Axl. Does he die? whats that purple thing in his head?  Is sigma really gone for good?  Or...will the humans wage war with the Maverick hunters and see X as the most powerful thing in the world and fear him?  X9 is what i want. X8s game play was great. but i didnt like the fact that zeros saber changed to orange instead of regular green.  I liked all the armor options and stuff but the levels could use more work. there were  only 3 levels that kept the regular X formula of 2D side scrolling. The intro stage , the Bamboo Pandmonium stage and the stage where everything was dark.  Dark mantis i think was the bosses name.  I think its safe to say the X series is far from over.

Legends 3 was cancelled.  And capcom blamed it on the fans, which was really just ridiculous.

I would like a final mega man star force game--for closure. Just because you-know-who returned to Geo, doesn't mean it has to end there. They need something with legitimate time travel that is canon to the story and happens when Lan is 16 years old and takes his friends along, maybe add in some parallel universes of the mega man universe, Geo is 16 also and is now trying to rebuild planet AM, and so on.

I want to see all of the cancelled MegaMan Games get Finished and Made.

 Personally I'd like to see X9 because to me it had the best story/plot and also my favorite megaman design/version.And also I liked the level design and boss in earlier games in the franchise, and I think it would sell the best.

How bout a new battle network game. That would be cool.

I'd honestly rather see a classic series game that connects itself and the X series.

I think if a new mega man game ever is released and inn't in the X series, I'll be disappointed.

If I had to wait for a new series, even though I'd buy the next X series or an original series, I say that it should be in the 3-D perspective, to give that another go. It didn't go so well at first, but it deserves another chance.

alabged : only X8 was 3D and that was because it was ps2, I hope they make X9 on the wii u with 2D sdescrlling, also another megaman zero game please

UFC : YES YES! I would love to have a new Megaman Zero. But unfortunately the ZX series replaced that franchise. I don't know why, but the ZX series just feels different from the original Zero series.

Never got to play ZX series, it looked ok not nearly as good in gameplay or story and characters as X and Zero though.

 I loved Megaman Legends when I was young. The storyline was humorous but with a few surprisingly heartfelt moments. So, I would like to see a new installation of Legends. Another straight up Megaman or Megaman X will be simple to produce and successful though. Gotta love that classic formula, not a thing wrong with it.
