Well you all know my choice, but the reason I'm getting a Wii is because I want something different, I may pick up a 360 or PS3 later on, but for right now not much interests me on them, also I think getting both would be silly because right now they have too many games that are on both.

Wii and 360 are a good combination I think. I've already sorta have a 360, now I just need to get a Wii.

owned a 360 for about 2-3 weeks now... havent gotten totally into in yet... kinda just pre-emptive halo 3 but there are some games that get my attention

I think the Wii is going to slip into a lot of homes than people originally thought.

For what I noticed, most older gamers aren't into the Wii, their more into the 360 or PS3. I think that to many people aren't into the kind of games Nintendo usually offers which is unfortunate, more people now days are into the more mature games.

I hope Wii does well but the fact that it isn't going to be nearly as powerful as 360 or PS3 and the graphics are going to be far inferior to them is what may be it's downfall. I really don't think graphics matter all that much but apparently everyone else does.

Of all the guys at my work, not one of them considered getting a Wii, even after I bragged it up. They mostly seem interested in the 360 and a few were interested in the PS3.

I think it's so different that even those picking up a 360 or PS3 will consider getting a Wii as well. More and more people and developers are jumping on the Wii Wagon, Madden is looking to be a very good launch game, as well as NFS: Carbon, each will bring something totally different to the table than the other console versions.
Then of course there is Zelda, which is looking to actually last 70 hrs plus. Check out This.

On IGN boards many people are considering getting a Wii in addition to their PS3 or 360, and then of course some are just getting a Wii. This gen is more about PS3 vs. 360, and the Wii being so different allows it to be looked at from a different angle. Last gen all three consoles were very similar except for their exclusives, this gen many of Wii's games will be exclusive or as I said will be very different to the other console versions. The PS3 has one exclusive game for launch and even a big Sony fanboy (the IGN PS editor) said that it wasn't really worth getting right now, not to mention unless you pre-ordered you have a better shot at winning the lottery than getting a PS3.
Something else that will hurt the PS3 is that parents probably aren't going to buy it for their kids, a 360 probably, but once you get to $500 and up it gets difficult for parents to justify the purchase.

I know one thing, Saturday night after next I'll be waiting at Wal-Mart for a few hours to get the WIi at midnight.

Probably a wii at launch and then an ps3 when price gets lower. No 360 for me.

Upon further inspection.... I might not get the wii.... I mean... I would really like to be able to play more then 30 to 60 minutes in a row before the batteries goes out. And about nfs:c... Whell sterring anyone?

The controls are totally different.

Also DM the batteries will probably last a while. There are some batteries out that charge via USB now. I'm thinking of gettting some.

DM, where did you hear the batteries will only last 30 - 60 minutes? That doesn't seem right but if it is the case, that would really suck.

I think he's using an extreme exaggeration. Nintendo's stuff usually has pretty good battery life, and I haven't seen anything on battery life as of yet.

... ok... this may sound dumb... as when i'm trying to explain reality does... but, how can u get excited about a console, just because you manipulate the commands of a game with 'totally different' controls? [ note: this looks sarcastic and irritated but seriously, i am just perplexed ]

when i played GTA: SA on PS2, a thouroughly enjoyed the controls... then i played it on xbox, and the controls were awkward to the extreme, forget drive-bys and a jetpack adventure... the wii might be similar with the likes of nfs: c, of course, it could be better (i tend 2 mix up brakes and view behind buttons occasionally).

davideo right in saying that console performance is really all that matters, its the foundation. if my computer had high definition monitor with 9999 megapixel webcam and wireless keyboard and mouse wouldnt mean much if i had a weak CPU

Simply because it's something so different Neo. I've played video games since I was 4 or 5. To see a game system totally change the way you play the game gets me interested. Think about an FPS without having to deal with the Dual-Analog setup, and not being tied to a pc. If developers do the controls right FPS's could be awesome.

Zelda actually makes use of the point to aim your bow and what not, and the editor at IGN got to play the game around 10 hours and he said it blows away the traditional dual analog setup. He says he never wants to go back, and he is very fair and often very critical, for him to give that kind of praise it must be pretty good.

Excitetruck can be picked up and played by anyone. You hold the Wiimote sideways and tilt it left or right to turn. How much more intuitive can you get?

In an FPS you move the Wiimote around to ain and possibly turn depending on how the developer does the controls. In Red Steel you lob grenades using the Nunchuck.

I really think you should give the Wii a shot once they have it in stores to play. Maybe then you will understand it a bit more.

Go play any nippon ichi gamr then come back to me and see if power matters. I'll ensure you that power is not important in any way.

The power of the console dosnt matter, its how they've built the games.

Look at the different graphics between halo 1 and halo 2. Same console, just better coding.

The original Xbox was never maxed out because it was so inefficient The GC on the other hand was very efficient. The Wii is built similarly and so it should be pretty efficient as well. That being said the Wii's graphics could get to be better than some people are expecting.
