I'm borrowing my Dad's Playstation 3 for a month and I also got a 1 month membership to gamefly. What games do you guys recommend that I should rent that isn't available on any other systems?

No offense to any PS3 owners, but the only games I could find that I'm interested in that isn't on the Wii or 360 are:
-Little Big Planet 1 & 2
-Gran Turismo 5
-3D Dot Game Heroes (maybe)

I know I'm forgetting a game that I've always wanted to play

If you never played God of War 3. I suggest that one. The gameplay is just awesome. I'm no good at giving game reviews, but the graphics are top notch and the gameplay graphics are nearly like the in game movies. Many brilliant boss fights. In my opinion. The fight with Poseidon and Kronos are the best fights. Ummm. As I said before. I'm no good a giving game reviews. You'll just have to experience it for yourself if you never played God of War 3 before.

If you want PS3 exclusives...

Disgea 3 and 4 (longer games, so it's not so much a rent game)
God of War III (not a fan myself, but people love it for some reason)
Heavenly Sword (pretty decent)
Heavy Rain (really good game)
Infamous (not that bad, but there are better)
Killzone 3 (nice shooter)
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Patriots (its basically an interactive movie)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Ratchet and Clank Future
Resistance series
Uncharted series.

These are the best exclusives in my honest opinion. IF I had to pick 2 or 3 though, for one month, I'd choose Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, and Killzone 3.

Digea 4 is coming out, -but try Disgaea 3 if you like turn based strategy/RPG's. But pretty much I'd go with Resistance, Socom4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous, Heavy Rain, Killzone, or Uncharted. Others that I would try but are less of top games / mostly having to do with the genre and age group that they are for (not that matters if the characters are cool, & story) are Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, and then there is also the racing game GT 5, and Ninja Gaiden (but if your going for some rentals maybe skip Gaiden in my opinion)- there is a downloadable demo.... Ratchet and Clank is great, but does take priority I guess I'd say over the others said at the beginning. If I were to pick 3 it would be Uncharted, Heavy Rain, and Resistance. If you've never owned a PS2 before I'd say try Socom4, Uncharted, and God of War 3. <-- (swap with MGS4, Infamous)

there are a bunch of asian turn based strategy/RPG's exclusive to ps3 but they are harder to find I bet.. so dont bother. look up NIS America for examples.

you should get soul cal. By the way when it comes to games I don't pay much attention to play station ether.

I would have to agree with Natas God of War was pretty fun for me even tho i only played a little, and i thought Metal Gear Solid 4 was amazing looking so if you like great cinematics i would look into MGS4 just for that reason.

I highly suggest God of War III it has amazing graphics and the boss battles are fun to play and watch. Killzone 3, Resistance series, Uncharted series, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 are great suggestions as well.

Well I just got a 3D Dot Game Heroes in the mail and it turns out my dad's PS3 doesn't work properly. The system works fine except for the fact that it doesn't detect anything I put into it. I tried putting the game in the drive, didn't even detect it. Tried a blu-ray movie, same thing. Well that sucks

legacyme3 : Possibly the lens is dirty, does that commonly happen for PS3s? It's the 40 GB model. It attempts to read the disc because that loading thing at the top right animates but it never actually discovers anything in the disc drive. Maybe I'll have to get a lens cleaner at walmart this weekend.

well, if you can borrow his PS3 again later, I would try Catherine from Atlus. This game is also being released for the Xbox360, but we all know PS is better. Catherine is a very stylish horror/puzzler. I know it sounds like a weird combo but it is by the team that Made Persona 4.

It's possible the lens is dirty, it hasn't happened to me, but Sony products can have issues with dirty lenses.

If it detects there is a disk but won't read it, it is almost certainly an issue with the lens. The only other thing it could be is a system failure, although if it was failing, the system probably wouldnt turn on, and you'd have the YLOD.

legacyme3 : I've tried all the different recovery options. I think I'll just get some lens cleaner and see if that helps. If not, hopefully the warranty is still good.

I don't know the PS3's warranty period. If the warranty hasn't expired, save up some money and invest in one at gamestop. The prices are going to probably go down again soon in an effort to get people to come back to Sony following the attacks.

legacyme3 : I hope a lens cleaner fixes the problem. I'm just glad this isn't actually my PS3, otherwise I'd be pretty mad lol. My Xbox 360 was nearly 3 years old and had the RRoD and the warranty was still good and covered it, Microsoft fixed it for free and paid for shipping both ways and also threw in a 1 month free gold membership. Anyways, I'm still going to wait until after E3 before getting a PS3 (plus, after this DDoS situation, I don't have the money for a PS3 now so I'll have to sell a bunch of stuff ).

Im still hoping to be able to donate soon, I'm getting a debit card, and I am trying to make it a case to donate a little to this site asap. That DoS really messed with the place, so we all gotta do our part.

PS3 = Not worth it. You have Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, and Infamous. I would recommend saving money for either the 3DS or the new Nintendo console.

Rasenganfan2 : Wish gamefly would let you rent systems because I basically want the PS3 for just a few games, so renting one for a while would be good enough but unfortunately my Dad's doesn't read games.

since it doesn't read anything, it's most likely the blu-ray drive stopped working.
