It can be either; it depends on how you ask the question. Based on the assumption that something evolved into a chicken. There was a chicken like creature that laid an egg containing the first chicken. So in that since the egg came first. However if you want to know which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg, then the chicken came first, because the egg containing the first chicken was laid by something that wasn't a chicken; therefore, chronologically the chicken came between two eggs.

The egg continuing the first chicken > the first chicken > the first chicken egg

Based on how you ask the question, "what came first chicken or the egg" , i will choose "the egg" containing the first chicken.
