I am just wondering as a fan of rock music why anyone likes "screamo?" I'm not trying to flame or anything but the small amount I've listened to just irritated the crap out of me. Are there good qualities or is it just listening to something that pisses off the people around you?

The lyrics (most of the time) are usually good once you go onto google and figure out what they're actually saying lol, but me listening to screamo doesn't mean it's the only thing I listen to. I try to find the good in every kind of music.....Except country...country is horrible in my opinion.

I like some of it. It sounds different depending on who's doing it. It is what metal seemed to evolve into. However there are some different screamo bands who dont scream the whole time. Actually, a lot don't. It just really depends which artist it is.

To each their own, I guess. I listen to SOME screamo (although its not very "hardcore" screamo), and I can't listen to it for long periods of time because it starts to get on my nerves- But I do like it once in a while. It's good for certain moods because it's super angry-sounding and loud. The best part of those songs is usually the guitar IMO.

Well, it's really about your taste in music, and there's no such things as bad taste. When I was younger, I wasn't able to stand this Death Metal music, or screamo as you call it, but after a while, I really like it. I enjoy fast tempo music, heavy riffs, and blast beats, that's my taste in music.

Personally I don't hate screamo, because I believe every music is beautiful in its own sense. However, I do recommend metalcore, which involves small quantities of screaming. Good examples are Killswitch Engage and Devil Wears Prada.

I like 90's screamo. Circle Takes the Square, Orchid, and Saetia are great bands. I'm a huge fan of death metal and black metal, but some wailed screams are a nice change of pace. The instrumentation is quite nice, too.
