Ok so i like anti-virus things.. who doesnt? Hackers and German Bank Owners. But since i dont know any german bank owners and the only hackers i know use PHP, i figure everyone who is going to read this likes to keep there PC in a secure condition, free of virus, adware, spyware and malware.

However not ALL anti-virus programs are wise choices. At the top of my To Download list is Sofos - Used by industry leaders it is the industry standard of Anti-Virus, if god has a computer there is no doubt he would have Sofos installed. And second is Avast! Pro. Not as powerful but very flexiable and reliable. Also uses little resources even during a scan.

So, if your going to download Anti-Virus - Pay or not pay, i suggest Avast! and/or Sofos. If your a newbie, i wouldnt get both if i were you. Most newbies would be unable to configure it so they work side by side with out conflict.

Now it is with great regret that i say i dowloaded a version of McAfee... That is a complete waste of time... Im not kidding, i had opened my windows folder and it begun to Scan each file giving a pop up about each file scanned, one by one, and how no threat was detected. Now, that is more annoying than having an actual infection and having it pop up every few miniutes. I open a folder and it lets me know that the folder is clean. This is the moderen world, people dont need to know if something is Fine. Only if something isnt. McAfee has some real issues to deal with before even thinking about competing... And believe it or not, its the only anti-virus i would strong advise you not to attemp using. It is a massive memory whore, its 'background' tasks, or active shield used more memory then a scan. And when it did scan it detected things that were in no way a threat. .zip files with music in them. I knew what was in them, considering i made them. And i dont remember putting a virus in them. McAfee is the mad mans anti-virus. It will cause more problems then it will solve.

Now the point of this is not me just to rant on. Do you agree with my opinion? And none of this im wrong bulls*** - i want to make it clear that this thread is not a right/wrong thread a best/worst thread, it is an opinion. My opinion first.

So now, you opinion? Have you had an interesting/dangerouse or funny anti-/virus event?

Wait.. hackers.. php.. who you tryn to say

If a virus scan uses little recources, dont you think its not doing a good enough job?

I wouldnt bother paying for anti-virus. I've had norton 05, and mcaffee, and neither of them worked any good as like, Anti-vir. http://www.avira.com/en/

McAfee sucks!

Nortan sucks too, but I have the $80 Nortan System works and it really does get the job done, and it does a ton of other stuff too...slows the computer down a little but deffinitly better than previous versions of Nortan. Is it worth $80? Probably not, but now that I have it, I have all the awsome features it comes with and of course all the anti stuff it comes with, such as anti-virus.

It would depend on how they hack and what they are hacking

And a firewall aint much to stop people these days, espicially if they are good hackers... My mate dave he can hack through firewalls with ease... he did it to me...

But he has alot of spare time...
