So today is me and my girlfriend's 5 month anniversary.

Problem, I'm REALLY not in a talking mood, and obviously that instantly makes me the bad guy.

I know I won't be able to talk without screaming because today has been a bad day (and no, I'm not gonna talk about it)

I told her today is just a bad day, and I don't know what else I can do without her friends instantly villainizing me for not being talky for one day in the past 5 months.

Any ideas?

Okay, I get it now. You had a bad day, so you don't want to talk to her because you know somehow a fight between you and her will start. I can understand why she would be upset.

Tell her you have had a bad day. She'll understand. She'll like you more because she will realize that you trust her, and know she won't get angry.

To be honest I never saw random "month" anniversarries as important so I haven't run into the problem. If I was having a bad day on an anniversary then I would discuss it with my partner (looks like you already did) and explain to them. Then we could celebrate on another day or maybe the next week.

I wouldnt worry about what her friends think, in their opinion i'm sure no one would be good enough, no one would get away from the villainization... what i do is if i am unhappy on a special day is, remember a day when i was extremely happy and try to project myself there. It brings me to my "Happy Place" so to speak.
