My Dad used to smoke cigarettes, however, he didn't smoke that many a day and wasn't really addicted. Once my Mom became pregnant with me, he stopped and never smoked again.

My parents used to be heavy smokers... like pack-a-day+ heavy. But they stopped when I was in first grade because I would go into massive coughing fits every time they lit up, even when I was sleeping. They had both tried to quit before and could not do it, but when they did, both did it cold turkey and never looked back.

Yeah both my parents smoke -- my dad will smoke about 1-2 packs a day and it worries me for his health at his age (late 50's). If he continues this way I'm sick to think that he'll meet an early grave.

My brother doesn't mind if he smokes or not. What bothers him is when my Dad lies about it to his face.

All 4 of my siblings and myself smoked for a while my youngest brother and I both managed to kick the habit.
