i mean they are new to vizzed so if they do something bad would it be fair to just rate em down? and i don't think it's fair to rate em up already what do you think

Just cause your a newbie DOES NOT mean you have an excuse to not be rated down. The world- or at least Vizzed- would be a much worse place if newbies could do whatever and not be rated down or banned.

oh, i see what u mean. don't mean to be sandwiching, but i guess you've got a point there. for real newbies, who've only been here for a couple days, i could understand, but i got trolled by this annoying newb whos been here forever and just never posted. that kind of newbie shouldn't be exempt to ANYTHING.

To many newbies are getting trust points as soon as they come on just because they are kool. I think it that should be stopped and the newbies should have too be here at least a month befor they can be trusted.

I partially agree with you to an extent as far as rating newbies DOWN. I think that should only be done if necessary...for instance, making spamming posts of like 6 words, being warned by staff and continuing to do it. In that case, a newbie should be rated down for A.Spamming and B. Disobeying the rules and staff warning.

Now giving newbies trust points...that's the whole purpose of being a trusted member. To get trust points. So I don't see the problem there....

I rarely give trust points...I give them to people who I feel deserve them. Never have I given a newbie points and probably won't unless I'm impressed.

Agreed. There is no excuse for not following the rules. You better watch watch you say or do, or we will give u a bad rep, whilst giving u negative TP! Thats another issues when to giv TP, and a month sounds like a good start for setting bounds...

I agree about the rating thing, if they are new at Vizzed, they should go through the ratings thing, because no matter...
If they act like that as a newbie (not including not knowing the rules), most likely they'd be like that in the future.
But hey, that's just my opinion.

Being a newbie myself still (At least until tomorrow, I am pretty sure) I say that there is no reason to not read the rules. I read the rules, I read the Terms of Agreements, I did everything Vizz asked me to do to make sure I was a responsible member on the community, and that I could to my best to make the community I was signing myself into even greater. All the resources are available to newbies to at least make sure they know the rules, there is no exemption from them at the very least. This is my opinion on rating down newbies; if they do something bad, it is still their fault. If they are still unsure of something even after reading the FAQ and such, then they should ask the community itself. It is your responsibility to take care of what you know and understand, and to understand what you do not know. As far as rating up Newbies, I'm a little bit on both sides. There is no reason for a newbie who is trying his best to be part of the community to be an outcast and unable to be rewarded. On other hand, I can agree with all the arguments with the fact that he/she is indeed new, and shouldn't be able to become a trusted member so quickly. I have to say though, you should only give trust points, if you indeed truly do trust said member to be a good part of the community. That too, is a responsibility that the more senior members of the community should bare in mind, and I'm kind of iffy that some people want the system to do the responsibility of their powers for them, in a matter of speaking.

Rating newbies is fine in my opinion, although I think it is abusive if the newbie has -15 in three days. Likewise, it is abusive if they have 15 in three days. I think that rating should be dealt with caution, for they are new. Trust points should be given after you understand the person and understand their actions.

I think it's perfectly fine to rate newbies; heck, I did so a few days ago.
You just gotta now that person very well and be sure that they deserve it.

I think it's fine to rate newbies, since they're as much of normal members as the rest of us. It's the newbie's job to read the forum rules before they post, so a newbie with negative votes would mean they did not read the rules and that's their fault.

only the really bad ones should be rated down when i was here for 10 day's i had -3 and now i have +12
