Jizzle (Jake).. I've thought about going to church, and I've almost went, but the whole idea seems sort of corny to me... I guess... Its just weird suddenly going and believing in something I'm not really sure of.. (Plus pastors seem kind of like nut cases, if you ask me)

My mother was a Witness, I know all about it.. They do horrible things to children.. They brain wash kids from a very young age to believe that if you do anything wrong you will die in the apocolypse and suffer for eternity, but not only will you go though the torture, your entire family and friends and everyone who influence you will burn too.. Now imagine a young gullible child, believing if they do anything wrong everyone they know will suffer... Elders (like priests) take advantage of this and often rape young girls/boys, telling them if they tell anyone, or do anything about it they will burn in the apocolypse.. They also do not allow any holidays or celebrations, even those in the name of the lord, they claim these to be pagan traditions.. Imagine as a young child never having any gifts or anything to look forward too.. Pretty horrible... My mother never ever got any gift of any sort until she was 20..

I can say I'd have to agree with your assessment on that... That IS pretty sick.

I know what you mean too about it seeming corny sometimes...especially if that's the only kind of pastor you have in that area. I have a friend who goes to one of those charismatic dancin'-in-the-aisle type churches...and it's not so much that I don't like it, but it's like I wonder how much of the "excitement" is real and how much of it those people just put out because that's what they're "supposed" to do in that church. Then the pastor gets up and it really kinda makes me feel like you. Makes me wonder "Why would anyone believe this? If I was a non-believer and I walked in here, I'd run the crap away without a second thought!"

All that to say, I can't blame you. But other churches really make worshiping God just the most natural thing in the world. (And I'm not bashing the dancing churches much, because they make worship natural for some, I'm sure...I guess that just depends on the person.)

Anyway, I guess my point there is to just find the church that suits you, the one you don't think "corny" when you walk in. I'd like to invite you to my church (the big one I mentioned in the "ministers" thread), but it'd be a bit of a drive for you! So I don't think that'll be happening

LOL, I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.. I really do wish there was a church I could get into, like one that my family goes too... But, nobody in my family (extended) really goes to church.. They all share the same feelings that my parents do, so I just don't feel like I belong to one.. The only person I really know that ever went to any sort of church was Jewish.. So I'm really stuck at a dead end.. I want to explore you know? But its really not as easy as it would seem...

How have you come to that conclusion? Quite bluntly, you're statement is flawed. I am not gay; I mearly act in this manor from my childhood life.
