Well, since you can't link a game to a poll, and I wanted this to be a poll, I had to choose one... and I chose to simply link to the game.

If we're talking what it SHOULD be called, I think Mother 2 would make the most sense. The creator of the game, Shigesato Itoi, picked the name Mother and he provided a pretty good reason for it (he didn't want the game to be shoehorned into being 'just a game', so he picked a name that didn't sound like a game, movie, book ect.). However, unless you're playing the Japanese version of the game or a English translated version of the Japanese game you aren't playing Mother 2, you're playing Earthbound. It may be petty to emphasize the distinction, but its the truth. Earthbound is the port of Mother 2, but you aren't playing Mother 2, you're playing Earthbound.
