It was a hard choice for me, for those basic pokemon i chose squirtle however overall I think pikachu is just awesome. As you note I posted pretty much all the pokemon through Pewter city Gym.

Out of this list I like Caterpie the most just because it evolves into Butterfree. Butterfree is one of the best pokemon in the originals simply because you can get it so early in the game and it learns a psychic move at level 12 (on red and blue) and as soon as it evolves (on yellow).
