My personal favorite is FF7 purely because I thought it was the best for the characters, battle system and story line i love the Materia system too the great thing about this game is that you feel like you become close with the characters and there are countless side quest and equipment and Materia to find.

I have to say IX, hands down. In my opinion, FF7 is over-rated, mainly because at the time, yeah, it was a breakthrough, but that doesn't automatically make it the best. The main villain was honestly Mediocre, and wasn't evil so much as just insane. To me, it's the villains that make your spine shiver in creepiness that are the best and help define a game. Villains like Kefka, Kuja and Dhoulmagus. The other thing was that the Story to Final Fantasy games is usually straight-forward and easy to make sense of, FF7 was kind a... Well, you got confused easily.

I also think that the Music in Final Fantasy 9 was more memorable and gets stuck in the head a lot easier. I often find myself humming the main battle theme, boss theme, You're Not Alone, and especially Melodies of Life.

I've only played ten but I hope that 10-2 is better than the first. I never even finished the story because the gameplay was so long.

catfight09 :
FF 10 wasnt even long you dont even venture out in a field in the middle of nowhere it did had lots of bosses one that even join your side for one battle but that what i like about some RPG's when someone joins you just for a bit rather then to stick with you untill they end they all dont have the same objectives by defeating the final boss

I've played almost every single Final Fantasy game so it's definitely hard to choose. If I have to choose then it will have to be Final Fantasy IX.

FF 9 is the best... I do give FF7 it's props because that's what made me buy a PS and it was one fo the defining things that got my into RPGs, BUT FF7 just didn't do it like FF9.
FF9 was fantasy! FF7 was scifi and while scifi makes for a great RPG, Final Fantasy's roots is in fantasy. FF9 has skills to learn, harkening back to the days of classes, and FF hasn't done it since then that I can remember. It also has the "super deformed" characters and just a bunch of good stuff.

Final Fantasy VI is, without a doubt, the finest Final Fantasy game created in the old, sprite-based style -- before the franchise made the jump to the PlayStation. With one of the most well-developed, diverse casts of all time and a pristine battle system. Few people will forget the bitter melancholy of watching Terra and her captors march through the dark snow towards Narshe, or hold back the heartache as Cyan kneels over his family, cruelly murdered by the mad Kefka

I will always remember this game fondly

I would have to say that my favorite Final Fantasy game to date is Final Fantasy 10 and it's sequel because of the story.

I enjoyed the fighting style, and the interesting level up systems, as well as the diverse creatures and difficult to get legendary weapons. I also like the seemingly impossible to beat monsters that are thrown into the game that allow hardcore gamers to truly test their patience and skill.

But most of all, I enjoyed the believable romantic story between Yuna and Tidus. I'm a fan of good endings, and when Tidus was made out to be a figment of reality, it really kinda brought my mood down, but the perfect ending in FF 10-2 really made me appreciate the game and all it had to offer. I'm a sucker for good romantics I guess, but only when mixed with believability and some great action and graphics!

This is a hard choice for me. I really loved both FF7 and FF9 because their plots were amazing, the worlds were vast, and combat was smooth. I will have to say I'm just a tad disappointed that Final Fantasy Tactics wasn't included on the list, but then again its more or less a spin off. Had Tactics been up on the pole I would've voted on that. But because I love FF7 and FF9 so much and equally I can't really vote. But as a fan I figured I'd just add my opinion.

I would vote for FF12, but unfortunately that wasn't included. It would be nice if it was, though.

Out of those included, I would say FF10.

I think the best FF game if FFXII. It has a unique battle system, good music, good characters, a good story, a detailed party member setup, and it's a pretty good game in all. The only bad things are the boss battles(specifically, Yiazmat). Other than that, that's it. I'm a huge FF fan, and a fan of rpg games as a whole.
