I did when I got a machoke. Now, I usually get pokémon with high hp because I found out a few years ago that pokémon with high hp tend to be stronger than the same type with less hp (ex. my lv 8 pidgey in yellow and it stats are high in its type and level)

I sure did. I got my first Pokemon game, Sapphire, from my friend who had a spare when I was 7. Not only did I choose Torchic because I thought it was adorable and Blaziken awesome, but I was so happy to have Sapphire because I thought Kyogre was beast and Groudon just plain ugly .
