Alright, to get this clear, I'm creating this thread because I don't believe every rant deserves a thread; if I did that, then I would pass everybody on thread post count. So, I'm just going to log everything here, as that also makes it easier to do things such as subscribe to this thread.

BTW, please to this thread if you are interested. And, uh, post your comments. I'm going to spend quite a while typing these walls of text; it'd be nice to know that people actually care.

I dunno if I'll be able to be on here daily, with school and sports and everything. That's why I'm calling it "at least bi-weekly", I'll be sure to make entries in here at least twice a week.

So, lets start off...

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

My day started off crappy. For one, I NEVER get enough sleep, I spend too much time slaving over a computer. Some might call it an addiction, but I call it an... addiction. Really, I'm spending more time watching boob tube and playing video games then actually socializing. Which is dangerous for me, because I am a very social person myself.

Another contributing factor was when I realized that I forgot my practice clothes for basketball at home on my bed, meaning that I'd have to wear stylish (although un-comfortable) clothes to practice. Fun!

I actually missed the first day of practice for basketball, as the lady that was supposed to check my physical and give me the blue card (aka, A-OK) to play didn't show up... she was sick or was preoccupied or something. What sucked is that I was responsible and put my physical on file the first of the year, and because of that she hadn't pulled it up or something.

At lunch break I decided that instead of screwing around and probably vandalizing something with my friends, I wanted to visit the lady to see what was on the Up & Up. She pulled up my file and checked it, and she said "yep, this is all good..." She was smiling and all happy and crap, then the smile dropped from her face. I swear I could feel the blood rushing to my head.

"I'm afraid your insurance doesn't cover the necessary guidelines for our school. I'm sorry. You can instead apply for these insurance programs."

She handed me a hefty packet involving sports insurance and stuff. And, *wow*, the prices blew me away. It was like $250 a year for the cheapest package, which is stupid because it only covers inter-scholastic sports. Also, I am (or was) only going to do basketball anyways, I'm not some meat head that applies for everything. What's wrong with my poor people insurance? We could barely scrape together enough extra money to sign up ($50), and we cannot get the money back. I'm screwed both ways, either I buy the insurance now and be able to play or not buy it and lose $50.

"Is there any programs available to help pay for/cover these expenses"?, I asked.

"...I'm afraid not, for inter-scholastic programs."

...

I'm running out of time to finish the paperwork/get insurance "correct for my school", too. Teams will be picked on Friday, meaning that if I don't somehow organize my insurance by then, I'm screwed.

I really feel like screaming to the sky right now.

the_casualty : I kinda "quit" playing basketball, which was the only sport that I played, I really just got tired of always being on the B-team and never getting to play, and plus I disliked the coach very much. Well I hope you get every thing situated, I know what it's like to be in a tight situation.

pi0x : Hmm. The coaches here seem pretty nice (although they are strict), and from what it looks like they try to spread it all around.

Today was awesome/cool/painful. That has to be the largest variety ever.

So, last night, late, late last night, I was up being depressed and all of that jolly stuff. Really, how could someone not feel that way? Then, I heard talking downstairs. It sounded like someone was on the phone. Curious, I ran downstairs to see what was up.

I heard muffled words behind the door, "...yeah and...do you...the Blue Cross..."

From what I knew, Blue Cross Blue Shield is an insurance company. To not be rude (and not get in trouble for being up so late ), I ran back upstairs quietly to my room. What was happening?

I found out this morning. Apparently, my aunt that lives about 15 mins. away had a "Blue Cross, Blue Shield" card bought for me. And she's had it for like 2 mos. WTF? Why would she have it? I haven't seen her in like a year, and we hadn't talked in like 9 months.

My mom said, "Basically, your aunt got you an insurance card and...she forgot to tell you."

My initial reaction was 'WHAT!?!?', but I decided to take a breath and look at the positive side.

I said, "So, do you have the card now?"

"Yes. Your aunt made a special trip out here just to get it to you."

"If I bring it to school today and show it to the nurse she'll let me play?"

"Mmmhmm."

There was a rush of energy that flowed through me. 'YESSS!'

I went to school all happy and crap, and bonded a little more with a certain someone . Basically nothing went wrong today, a first in quite a while.

To straighten this out, my uncle is probably pulling in 200k a year, so that's how they afforded the insurance. Not all of our family is poor, and we try to help each other out. Although it was belated, it DID help. Thanks, Aunt Julie.

Unfortunately, I was at the butt end of all of tryouts. There was three days of "tryouts", which basically were just practices in which they observed closely. I only had one day to prove myself. So I'm pretty sure I'm going on one of the JV (Junior Varsity) teams. But it's a toss up. Who knows.

The coaches are really strict though (I think I already told pi0x this ). If we messed up during a drill, they would yell at us to get down and give them 20 (push-ups). Meh. I ended up doing 40 earlier tonight. Another thing they made us do was run lines to un-godly times. We had 15 seconds to run lines back and forth (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, all the way and then back), and if we didn't do it in that time we'd have to do it again. I was able to do it the first time... but still.

Another thing that the coaches made us do after all of the drills were done (5:30 PM, practice starts at 2:30) when we were already stumbling around and being tired, was a 'Sweet 16'. In a 'Sweet 16', you have to run back-and-forth 16 times in under a minute. Wut? That's impossible, right? And it's the same as the lines that we ran earlier; we had to keep re-doing it until we got it right. It took me two times to get it done.

So... yeah. The teams will be chosen tonight (I could see the coaches conversing when I left tonight), and the results will be posted on the Office window tommorrow morning. I'm nervous but scared.

And I'm sore, too. W/e, I'm gonna go chill out to some MGMT.

the_casualty : I like most of the coaches except for the head basketball coach, which is the only one we have until football is over. Well at least I do something in school,Band, instead of doing nothing. Hope you make the team. My friend was accidentally put in pe instead of basketball, so when he transferred they told that he had to be the manager but he still has to practice and all that.

becerra95 : Awesome. What's your favorite song by MGMT?

pi0x : I don't like band, I stick to teaching myself the keyboard/synthesizer.

Friday, January 7th, 2010

I'm hurting right now.

Why? Because basketball practice yesterday was hell. I think I told you that earlier.

Thankfully, there was no practice today. There was a dance after school (of which I went to ), although I couldn't dance too well.

Basically, I'm extremely sore in my thighs, chest, arms, abs, and back. So basically I'm hurting everywhere. I had a headache earlier, probably partially caused by all of the helium I took in from the balloons at the dance. My voice sounded AWESOME, so it was worth it.

My female 'interest' today dressed up as a Power Ranger. Isn't that awesome? Lol, so that you guys won't ask, she was the Yellow power ranger.

Posted at the office window this morning was the teams for basketball for the season. Unfortunately, I only made Junior Varsity . I didn't expect much more, as other players had a longer time to try out... I bet you most of the coaches didn't even know my name.
