Hi everyone. I have something deeply personal I'd like to share with you. I've been telling all my friends about this and they've taken it real well so I should not have a problem sharing it on vizzed. I have a disorder similar to autism called Aspergers Syndrome. It's not a whole lot. I don't know if any vizzed members has a disorder like mine or a different one like bipolar.
Aspergers is what I call a "social disorder" because it keeps me from being socially normal like people without the disorder. I don't want anyone thinking of me as a freak or social outcast just for telling you about this, because I'm not. Alot of asperger kids develop obssesions called "special intrests" and they become very smart and even excel in their range of intrests, like me and guitar, I can tell anyone almost anything they want to know about the instrument. These special intrests is what keeps asperger kids from sociallizing normally. It's not all bad though, as most asperger kids become very successful in their lives this way.
Aside from the special intrests, asperger kids tend to hide alot of emotion. For example, I could be happy, but it won't be brought out in any facial expression and no one would know. I have a mild case of aspergers so that doesn't happen to me alot. My parents tell me I have a good sense of humor. However, even if asperger kids are teased, even playfully, they would misunderstand. If one of my friends came up to me and pretended to be mad at me, I'd really think they're mad at me for something and I won't know why.
So, this is what I have to share to you so far, and I hope, after reading this, you'll understand me and anyone else like my you know and/or have met. Thank You.

hrm, that's got to be tough. So, you don't understand sarcasm or anything like that? You take everything people say at face value?

That would be strange to experience. I'm so used to being sarcastic that I couldn't imagine not being able to do that anymore.

Oh, that's not very good, but it's not bad to not show emotions.

I'm bipolar, it runs in the family, I too am a social outcast, nobody likes me because I misbehave a lot, talk too much, and make too many jokes about everything. People say the only good thing there is to me is that I always know what to say.

I have something similar, but it's not what you have. I have a mix of a few social disorders that makes me defective to what most people say. I end up taking everything as someone says it due to a lack of common sense too.

But that sucks dude. I'm sorry to hear that.

That sucks dude. I'm also a social recluse, always have been. But lately, don't really have a choice. Had to have my Spleen removed, preventing me from going to school like a normal person. I'm still in contact with a real friend, but I can't stand him. Dropping an f bomb makes him cool. Lie. Thus, most of my friends are older than I am. Usually by 10 years

One of my friends from back in third grade had Asperger's. Back then, I didn't know about it and I didn't really understand why he acted mildly different, but I didn't think too much of it either since I was quiet anyway. He actually got into a really good university just recently. He's more than enough proof for me that any mental issue isn't the end of the world.

I have all sorts of neurological stuff running through my family too. Between myself, my immediate family, and some of my cousins, we have people with all sorts of mental stuff including some that reach onto the Autism spectrum. I won't treat anyone any differently over anything like that. Some of my relatives have had a slightly rougher life because of it and there's no reason for me to make it worse.

EDIT: You probably read all of it by now, so I deleted some of the more personal details. Didowe was right about possibly including a bit too much.

BNuge : Weird how you shared it on the Internetz, but at least you told it, otherwise when people do sarcasm to you, drama starts again .

I study in an Autistic school... I don't even know how I am Autistic but I was ADHD...

I belived when I was a newbie on Vizzed I was more autistic or something. One time Juliet actually used something like sarcasm on me, and I thought she was serious...I was about to write an angry reply but luckily I sew a "disclaimer", where she claim she was joking.

But now I am a sarcastic person, I guess I got "cured" from an "incure-able" disorder, I don't know how. Only reason I am still studying in the special school is because my end year exams are coming (this year...Jan the 1st again ) and stuff...

I am going to a normal school after my end years...I hope.

alexanyways : I guess now will be the perfect time to say this without offending you...that is actually what I sort of think of you (make too many jokes about everything, example), but I too write/talk a lot, more on details though.

zillamech548 : I applaud you for telling your story… I know how you feel. I was born with Cerebral Palsy and although I have had many friends I have also had my share of struggles. My case of CP effects the strength of my legs and back and when I am out and about I wear braces on my legs and often walk with one crutch (though I should walk with two as it helps me stand straighter).

I have had my share of problems in my life with kids when I was younger thinking that I was a “Freak” or somehow not normal but more often then not once those kids got to know me they saw that the only thing different about me was that I move slightly slower then most people. I am normal.

I have periodically kept in touch with many of those kids (we’re now adults) over the years and I am fortunate to have some really good friends. If you do happen to come across people who might give you a hard time either online or elsewhere just remember that they either don’t know you’re situation and what it means or, their simply closed-minded and are likely trying to fit in with the “In” crowds of life.

The only thing that people that can become obsessed with fitting “In” fail to realize is that there really is no such thing as “In” or “Out”. Those who are open to friends of all sorts of backgrounds already know that lesson but, for those who don’t know that lesson it can be a painful lesson to learn especially later in life.

Best of luck to you.
