I lost so many of my little friends. The first one was because of a passing allergy when I was a child. That cat was so kind that he jumped in my arms everytime he or I wanted a hug. But, on day they sent him for euthanasia 'cause when we tried to send him in an other house, he was hurting himself because he wanted to see us... My second cat fled when I was older and one night he never come back. I though he has been hit by a car but many years later, I knew that the black cat that was leaving outside nearby my house was him. I think he didn't loved us. Know I have 2 cats and they are alive My second cat fled when I was older and one night he never come back. I lost two cats, five fish, a dog, a lizard and a hamster. Pets and me never go well ever. But now I have a dog and I take special care of it to make sure nothing bad happens to it. |

Technically, he wasn't my dog, but my aunt and uncle had a Australian cattle dog named Duke who passed of dog cancer last year. He did live long though: around the 12-13 age in dog years. So me was an old man in human years, the puppies would always want to play and he would growl at them :') I do miss him a lot, he was a great dog. |

My family has always been big about having pets. We've still got several living (Ozzy, Gurgie, Jenna, Boch, Oreck, Kiki, Nacho, and Motan), but we've lost quite a few too. My first puppy, Oddball, died of coccidia. I've lost four cats: Mr. Whiskers [shot], Anubis [Crushed by a fallen tree branch], Loki [Stolen], Widjit [Killed by my next-door neighbors]. There was Pippin, who died of Parvo. Countless puppies that we rescued or accidentally bred that were stillborn, underdeveloped, or otherwise had something wrong, as well as roughly six who were bred and the mother suffocated. (We learned rather quickly to keep the Mommy away at night, but we still lost a few when separating them was not an option because they were too young.) We've also had a few natural, simply of old-age deaths. Our most recent was our believed Bear, who reached the ripe age of twelve and lost his ability to stand, walk, eat, drink, or otherwise function, so we had to have him put down, a mere three weeks ago. |

Not sure if I posted in this thread before, but whatever. A month ago I lost my first parakeet/budgie, Boba. Earlier this year my 11 year old Golden Retriever died. My cat Monty also ran away...hoping someone just found him and took him in instead of dying somewhere. :/ A month ago I lost my first parakeet/budgie, Boba. yes I've lost a few pets I love, the first being moose my aunts pitbull(felt like mine since he was always at our house) he used to sleep beside me every night when grandma yelled bed time he would be right on my bed but we had to get rid of him. :l
next my cat Ashley we put her down because she was getting old and didn't want her to suffer anymore. and my cat Lucifer we had to get rid of her cause we were moving and my stupid aunts husband was allergic, my friend wanted a cat since he had just moved out alone so I let him have her but she was always hiding behind the chair and not eating, one day he opened the door and she ran away. :l I was so pissed at him and upset because I'll never see her again :/ and I love her so much, I cried so hard. next my cat Ashley we put her down because she was getting old and didn't want her to suffer anymore. and my cat Lucifer we had to get rid of her cause we were moving and my stupid aunts husband was allergic, my friend wanted a cat since he had just moved out alone so I let him have her but she was always hiding behind the chair and not eating, one day he opened the door and she ran away. :l I was so pissed at him and upset because I'll never see her again :/ and I love her so much, I cried so hard. |

I've lost five pets, two gerbils and three cats. I don't remember two of the cats, and you don't really connect to the gerbils as much. But the other cat, was tough. He had problems with his eyes by the time he was eight, and got glop in his eyes, and later got problems in his legs, and became diabetic, and we had to give him shots every day, and give him little food, about half the food he normally ate. He pooped in the hallway if he was upset, and threw up often. Because he required so much attention, and being home schooled, was with him all day, I grew attached to him, but more problems occurred, so we had to put him down. I was never so devastated, to be honest. |

We had a black and white cat for 13 or 14 years before he died. I loved him, but I never expected losing him to be SO hard. I mean, he's a pet... not an animal, right? He was in a lot of pain, so we took him to the vet and the vet said the most merciful thing would be to put him to sleep. We hadn't been planning on that, and my mom was worried about my little brother witnessing it, so I offered to stay out with him. He kept asking where our cat was and wanting to know if he would come back as I tried to explain it to him. Then my mom came out and called us in, to ask if we wanted to see the cat before it died (it had been injected.) I remember standing at the table as all of us tried to pet him as he died, and my little brother didn't understand, asking what was wrong with our cat. He -finally- understood as our cat died and he just started crying, asking why our cat wouldn't come back. I bawled, and hadn't expected to hurt so much. Wow... even now I'm getting choked up over it, and that was 8 years or more ago! Wow... He kept asking where our cat was and wanting to know if he would come back as I tried to explain it to him. Lost one of my little female kittens one day. Just was gone from the house; probably snuck through the door, or something. But she was the cat out of all the ones that we had that wanted outside the most; and she was quite a fighter. So I'm more than sure she's okay still (she wasn't THAT young). If anything, the OTHER cats outside should be more afraid. But she was the cat out of all the ones that we had that wanted outside the most; and she was quite a fighter. I didn't really lost my pet; I had to give away my pet Beagle becuase we were moving to a new place where we couldn't keep her. She was a rescue dog to so it was kind of depressing to put her back in a dog shelter. I was 11 at the time and they were both 16 years old so they had litteraly been there my whole life I won't say their names as I use them as passwords for my college accounts as I know I will never forget them. I now have another cat who is beautiful and caring and I love ehr dearly but I still think about them even five years on I lost my dog and my cat very close to each other both down to cancer in the same place, there was about a month between their death. I think a more interesting topic title would be "Have you ever lost a pet you DIDN'T love?" In seriousness, just about all of my pets' passings were ones I loved and felt deeply sad about. Admittedly, losing fish did not upset me as much as the hamsters, and only one of the hamsters' passing really upset me to a high degree... The one I found dead upset me so much because I was petting her, thinking she was asleep, then when I noticed she wasn't waking up, poked her side and she fell stiffly to the side. An 8 (or so) year old should not have that experience. With fish, I just felt a little sad, then moved on. When it came to my lifelong dog pal, Buddy... THAT was a hard blow. I was 17 or 18 when we had to put him to sleep due to cancer. The act of putting him to sleep made me feel like we murdered him. We were in the room when it happened, and he panicked as the vet put the injection in, making things worse, and I was looking into his eyes as life left him. This put me in a multi-year depression. It came and went often, where I just felt so sad, I would stay in bed all day, skip classes, call out of work. Distractions pulled me out of it, and I would say only about 3 years ago have I truly been able to get over his death entirely. His death struck me again when my mother and father brought home our current dog, Faith. At least, in the beginning. Anytime I looked at her, I kept thinking dark thoughts, as if to think she's just going to die and leave me like Buddy did. That passed though, as I realized that was a very unhealthy way to look at things. Death of any loved one can take quite some time to deal with and get over. Every once and awhile I cry a little, remembering that look in Buddy's eyes when he died or finding my hamster, Speedy dead, but I just think of the good, funny, and heart-warming times and feel much better. I lost my pet bird named coco and I loved him. One day, my mom opened the cage to clean it, Coco escaped and jumped out the window. Just started to cry now. |
