My profile picture could be considered flamebaiting as well, in fact that is how it came about from a discussion where I accidently said the word raghead and got heat for it I could easily say legacy is flamebaiting if I were a peta supporter. Yes, she did ask for opinions, and tis fine. I can completely see where you are coming from and largely can agree with your stance on incest. My only real problem is you bringing the subject of homosexuality into the mix and comparing it directly to incest. If that's your opinion, tis fine I can't argue with it...but I do feel that you shouldn't have brought it up in my opinion as said comparison due to the diverse nature of the internet.

To stay on topic on the thread, I will add that I do find it somewhat repulsive and don't condone, as I said before...but more-so because of the biological aspects, not necessarily the family aspects. In the end humans conceived the notion of a family to raise their younglings and in many ways the relation angle is simply our way of keeping the "clan" together. No...more-so tis the biological aspects and the genetics that disturbs me more-so rather than the idea of being with family. In the end...what someone does is their own business and right, and as long as both parties consent willingly...then its none of my business and all I can do is wish them well.

Incest I have nothing against, but that is something I will NEVER go to ever. I'm not that desperate to go out with a cousin or any blood relative.

   I find this a very interesting thread! I don't think I could ever date one of my cousins, but I'm not totally against it. Who am I to say who can't love who? Of course, I do think my cousin is quite pretty, but I just couldn't. We are family, and it's about the same as if I were to date my sister.

I don't even know how someone decide to make such thread about this. it just wrong.

Honestly I don't really care what other people choose to do, but I never really even thought about anything like that with my cousins. Either they annoyed me, or they were like my brothers and sisters.

And there's one cousin in my family that most of the females (aunts, cousins, etc) agree is attractive. If you find them physically or romantically appealing, that's one thing. That I don't really mind.

The way I see it, people will do what they want to do. I may or may not find what they do really, really weird and uncomfortable to talk about and whatnot, but it's not like they can't or shouldn't do it.

Anyway, I'd guess that I could make the same statement and mean something completely different. I'd argue that both should be equally acceptable, both socially and legally, though perhaps not morally, provided that it involves only consenting adults. If anyone is victimized by the relationship then I'd understand taking issue, but otherwise it should be left up to each person to decide.

Well I would never date my cousin or any of my family, I think it is wrong an kind of creepy, but hey if your in to that go for it. I think it is illegal in some states, but I am not sure. 

I think it's normal to date your cousin in the sense, you can't find a date and need someone to go with you to a dance or something. But as like a romantic interest, NO! That's really gross. It's almost the same as dating a sibling. Yuck!

Nope.  Probably wouldn't date my cousins. 0__0 I don't know anyone who does, and I think dating your 2nd cousin is also weird too.  Just anyone who is somehow related to you, don't date.  I work on an advice app, and people ask, "Is it okay to like my 2nd cousin?"  I guess you can think they're cute, but don't admit it.  It's kinda weird to think of that...  I heard that they allow cousin marriage in more states than gay marriage..

"Cousin" is kind of a vague term when you think about it... distance can sometimes affect people's opinion of this sort of thing. Do you think of a direct first cousin the same as a 2nd cousin twice removed or whatever?

Also, weren't former president Theodore Roosevelt and his wife actually distant cousins? So distant that they were as genetically similar as two completely unrelated people, mind you. But this just furthers my point that "cousin" isn't very specific.

As for David's comment that incest is equal to homosexuality... I'm inclined to agree... though perhaps not with the same mentality behind it. I say they're the same merely because in either case, it's none of my business what other people do. Their decisions don't affect me, so why should I care? I'm in no position to be telling other people who they can and can't love. And really, can anyone actually control who they fall in love with who what attracts them? You are attracted to what you are attracted to. I say no harm, no foul. As long as it doesn't negatively affect anyone, there's no real reason to care.
