Yes I considered myself a leader in my school because I was popular and I consider myself a leader around my friends as well.

I don't like to lead. I don't follow either. But some people tend to just follow me lead. It's kind of weird.

septembern : Well, I would like to think that the amount of work I do on a self-imposed schedule would inspire fellow colleagues and sports writers to use more of what potential they have to provide their readers with the best content possible in their respective sport.

I admit that when things are normal I push myself to an insane level as to how much I’ll cover in a week on a busy week and the amount of subsequent hours that are put into that type of dedication especially when in my case I cover many fights from outside of the United States and the subsequent time differences due to not having US TV access for a good majority of those cards on any given day can be downright brutal.

I have been the head boxing writer for a publication in the past and once I was given that responsibility I devoted myself ten fold to it. People have asked me in the past why as a freelancer knowing that I will likely not get paid, why would I put myself through such a schedule willingly.

The way I look at it is that each fight card no matter whom the combatants may be is a potential news story that if myself as a writer am willing to cover that card where other writers may not either be assigned by their employer to cover or don’t feel the need to cover it, then it is an opportunity for those who are willing to put the time in.

There have even been times where my self-imposed schedule has worked to my benefit. Last year, I covered a relatively important fight that took place in Australia. I watched the contest live at 4 in the morning US time and although it was televised on US TV on delay I was able to provide content about that fight hours before it aired in the US.
It was also beneficial given that the network this bout aired on was not available to me at the time due to a carriage dispute between the network and my Satellite provider so in this instance I was able to get a jump by at least 15+ hours on other writers whom may not have either been in Australia to cover the fight in person or were willing to wait for the tape delayed broadcast. That is dedication and I am very prideful in regard to my work ethic.

If I could inspire the people I work with or better yet aspiring writers to put their best effort forth in regard to providing the best work that they possibly could then I would take pride if someone were to call me a leader though I am overly humble at times so I doubt I would accept any credit in any form, but it would make me feel good if I were to inspire someone or a group of people to be the best that they can be.

I wouldn't "consider" myself to be a leader, I know I am. When grouped with my peers I almost always naturally emerge as the leader, even if I am trying to avoid the responsibility. The qualities do have their benefits though, so I'm not really complaining.

I was definitely a leader when I was in high school because I spent a lot of my free time helping teach karate. My instructor always used to remind the other instructors and the assistant instructors of an old leadership proverb.

"He who thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk."

I don't teach anymore, so I'm not really a leader in that sense. I'm not a very influential person in general, so that sort of works against me. If I find someone who is more intelligent than me, but also treats me with respect, then I will listen to them. So I guess I'm more of a follower now.

You know, I was a foreman in a previous construction job, but laid-off. As fa as a leader in other aspects, for sure! Just no telling if my qualities are applicable.

Well, I do consider myself a leader. At school with my friends, I am their leader. I have even given them contracts that show were they are in power. There are a top 7 if you aren't in the 7 you're a lacky as simple as that. Though I may be strict, crucial, and sometimes harsh to my friends, I have never been unfair.

No. I hardly ever take initiative like that, I'm bad at working in a group as it is.. let alone supervising what everyone is doing to make sure they do a good job. I'd much rather work by myself. "If you want something done right, do it yourself"...

I prefer collabs - much more interesting than leading or following.
Okay, I'm lying, the first choice is always - me on my own,
but that's not always possible.

I don't know, actually, or maybe I don't pay enough attention to know.
Overall I don't care.
I live my life and no one tells me how.

But to think about..I guess given the right circumstances and opportunity everyone can lead. Really, they can.
