Maverick987 : Does that really make a difference? Drugs are drugs. Besides, in my experience, I find the opposite to be true. I believe it's easier to appreciate hip-hop if you really think about the world that these rappers are coming from.

Seems most peoples opinions are based off of what they hear on the radio..lol If my only experience with rap was with the radio I'd feel the same way. But I guarantee you whatever style you have you could find some rap that caters to your eardrums. 

heh...a lot of non-rap likers like Eminem. He's the only one I listen to...have you ever heard "Stan"? It's like the most moving song he has...my least favorite of his though is "Kim" it's basically him talking to his wife about how much he hates her and stuff....its an awesome and epic song, but kind of high in the rage and swear factors.

Yes Rap is one of my favourite types of music, my favourite rapper out there is Eminem.

Hmm, there is a fine line between rap and hip-hop...you may have heard pure rap...i dont like that either, but hip-hop and old school rap is a bit different.
I like certain metro hip-hop songs (although most of them are all trash now...)
The older rap was good. Like 2pac and BiggieSmalls or Snoop (my fave).
It seems the new age has come in, and most of the rap/hip-hop now in my opinion isnt worth listening to, but there are a few exceptions.

I used to like rap back then when I was,uh,12 I think.
I have been listening to German rap which was kinda awesome back then.

Now I hate rap,I just don't like it at all.
Well,not entirely,just recently I have been listening to 'Ice Cube' and I really like his music.

I don't really like the "new" type of rap such as Lil' Wayne.  The only type of rap I like and am willing to listen to would be the older rap such as Ice Cube and rappers like him.

I like Rap as much as anything else but I tend to listen to rap more though because i'm more familiar to it as well as R&B songd

I don't like rap or hip-hop, and haven't listened to it willingly in years. The last time I had to listen to it long-term, it was when my black ex loved the stuff. That was a minor reason why he's an ex now. The other reasons aren't appropriate for this forum, so I won't go into them.

I find rap okay.I don't see anything wrong about it.Usually raps have swears.My sister can let me listen to raps as long as I don't swear

I freaking hate rap.And being African-American,people are always surprised when I say I hate rap.To tell the truth,I listen to pretty much all rock.Rap to me is really just some people with a IQ of 0,who just write down a bunch of random words and they ryhme.It's really sad to know that modern & popular rap has ruined good rap.Props to the great and legendary rappers like Eminem,Tupac,etc.(R.I.P.)Who actually write from their heart and not about drugs and crap.Sometimes I wish that Idiots like LiL Wayne,(look douche bag it's spelled Little okay?L-I-T-T-L-E)and Nicki Minaj would drop of the face of the earth and go back to their home planet;Retard

I actually am starting to like a bit of rap now but nothing will ever compare to bands like Tool and A Perfect Circle. there is some fine rap with good beats and some actual enjoyable music in the background like Outkast's Last Call and Bowtie, both make good use of horns and excellent beats with some funny lyrics...

I think that there are a few redeeming songs, but I don't really 'love' the genre as a whole. Most songs I just don't find appealing to listen to.

haha I actually like rap, and yeah at times I listen to that clubbing, doing drugs rap like that, but mostly I listen to people like 2pac, or DMX, the rappers that don't only rap about drugs. But I mean, rap isn't that bad. And the only good people are the ones who right their own lyrics. It does take skill to write a good verse, trust me, I write raps. I have been since I was 12..... which isn't saying much since I'm 14 lol

I like some rap music. It's just that I don't like most of the popular rap music now. Almost all of the rap that I listen to was released in the 80's and 90's when the lyrics were a little more deep. When the lyrics were the most important thing. Now it seems that as long as a song has a good beat, it will become popular.

I agree with a lot of points that some people make about rap music, artists rap about the same thing. But if you think about how you come up from nothing to make something in life. Drugs, women, parties, its a lifestyle to them now. I prefer to listen to some of the older stuff but I really did fall in love with the newer stuff. I like to feel the beat and move to the rhythm, so as you can tell I like to dance. Its kinda hard to dance to rock and country, headbanging isn't that much of an art form in itself now is it. The whole idea of writing a good song is to make a point to someone, rap was a way to fight against racism and oppression against black people. Nowadays its about feel-good, lets forget the bad day and go party. Its changed in its time, so really you have to look at the lyrics. You want lyrics that are sound, catchy, and have some sting to them kind of like the rap battles of the past. I don't really look at rap as music as much as it is just another art form that you have to appreciate for the culture behind it. Rap is this generations rock and roll, and dubstep is going to be the next generation and so on. You can't fight it, just join in an enjoy it.

I would have to say, "Rap music is great to listen to." This is my opinion and may you please respect it? I don't mind if other users have an opposite opinion as me. I will respect their opinion only if they respect my opinion.
