I think we should all keep everything we write for school. And lets say I need a 5 page essay on prohibition. I can just come on here and tell you "I need a report on prohibition" and I can get one. Its a hellava lot better than just plagerizing it right???

Actually, it would be a good idea, but only if every person here signs a written contract swearing they will not sue anybody else for plagiarism -- it is okay to use someone else's work if they give you permission to do so. The only problem is, in court it's difficult to prove any agreement that isn't supported by paperwork or a contract of some kind...which means that if anybody here is strapped for cash, they could let someone use their written work and then sue for a million dollars, and they'd probably win.

So yeah...its a good idea AND a bad idea. *shrug*

Another problem is that every person here has a distinct writing style, and I don't know about you guys, but my teachers would likely be able to tell the difference between my style and someone else's. Plus, some of the people here just aren't as good at writing as others, which means it wouldn't be a good idea for them to give their sub-par works to us. (I don't mean to insult anyone...I'm just stating a fact.)

Sounds like a pretty good idea, I actually wanted to make a forum on this many years ago.
Anyways, if we do this, it'd be best to keep it's discussion and such in the Underground to prevent teachers from finding it. They have clever ways of searching the internet to finding the papers...all they really gotta do is type in a little peice of the paper and put it in quotes on google, and it'll take them to the paper.

n 1: a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work 2: the act of plagiarizing; taking someone's words or ideas as if they were your own [syn: plagiarization, plagiarisation, piracy]"

So that is still plagirism. Secondly most colleges have some type of honor code saying students can't have other people do their work.

And yes the style thing would be a big factor, if given the opportunity I'm going to make some sarcastic/ ironic remark in the paper and my humor is very dry. So yeah they style thing would be aq huge thing as well.

And as David said, all a teacher needs is a sentence or 2 in quotes and they could find the paper, and in most cases you won't be given the benifit of the doubt, so if it is in the Underground, I don't know if it will help. I mean I used Google to find the Sidekick for the Vizzed Ville question.

The underground is a protected forum, google and it's bots can't even access the forum, so there is no way google (or any search engine) could gather any information from that forum...I think.

The key here is you think. Although in theory that does sound right, so maybe. Either way there is really quite a bit going against the idea. The style point is a huge blow to it.

You wouldn't be able to be sued for crap anyways. In college its hard for a one semester teacher to gauge your style. I know mine can't anyways. Great minds think alike. If you say that the paper is for anyone anywhere to use without giving you credit then Wahlaa, no problem at all.

You'd be surprised how much a teacher can pick up in say two papers.

MichaelVash is right. My U.S. History professor has gotten a lock on all of his students' writing styles, and we've only turned in three papers so far. I haven't asked my other professors about it, but I'd imagine they do the same thing. (I'm thinking it's required training or something when they try to get a teaching degree.)

It's more like we don't think about the way we write because that is how we think. If we read three or four things by the same person we could probably tell at least something about their style.

I do have somewhat of a style when I write. But what if it doesn't sound like you? WHO CARES! they can't do anything at all. Turst me... on the sunscreen

I'll tell you guys what I have so far.

1. A seven page report on the "Illigitamate effects of Prohibition" WIth like 6 sources.

2. A three page report on the legalization of Marajuana. Its a persuasive essay. Its good for the most party, but gets really corny.

3. If somone needs a poem, I could write that no problem.

They can use that as a legit way to say you were cheating and they will. Just trust me, it's not really worth it. Just do the paper yourself and you won't get kicked out.

I don't think there is any way they could do anything. Thats what this country is built on... Innocent untill proven guilty.

Private colleges almost definately could, but I'm not as sure about state schools.

I agree with MichaelVash, there's really no reason to risk getting kicked out. However, you could get idea's or opinions and stuff, or have us proof read your paper now and than (though i'm sure some people would charge viz).

Well this is what I think.

1. If you email the paper person to person, no internet crawler will be able to find it. So if the other person doesn't put it on the internet. You are free from guilt or blame.

2. If somhow they do find it then how would they know you arn't the person who wrote it? And you could get me or whover had the paper to write them a letter telling them you were the original person who wrote it.

3. Innocent untill proven guilty, how do the teachers know that you didni't spend more time on the paper, or wanted to use a different writing vvoice. people don't write the same all the time. Hell, I talk different all the time.

Its up to you guys but if you need somthing.

I really dont care what you guys do, the safest and easiest solution would be to have the papers available in the underground...maybe using the vizzed file sharing. If I was still in college, I'd probably have more interest with this

Zylo again, all they need is to think you are cheating. And if you are on the college's network then you could be easily caught.

They could find out you weren't the person if they wanted to, they have ways. It's just not worth it man. Plus I prefer my grade to rest on my shoulders not someone else's.

Right, I would prefer to do my own papers too. But there are times when life is too busy. Times when you want to go on vacation. When you want to put more time in to doing somthing else. I guess I think the risks arn't very big at all. I doubt most teachers have "ways" or motivation. Many areas on the internet are secure and thats why you can have your credit card numbers and ss numbers. Professional hackers have a hard time, I doubt teachers would care.

You are correct in saying that they can give you a bad grade if they suspect somthing. But none of my teachers would. Even if they thought I had my GF do my paper, they would still grade it accordingly. None of my teachers would know that I hadn't written a paper either. If the paper was well written. I guess it depends on if you think you can get away with it.

Well, what about someone writing/typing a paper, copy and pasting it on here, but the person who wants it-uses it as a guideline and summarizes the work into their own words, so the person using it still has to work somewhat.
