Is it possible to have a feature where one can search the forum with a typed keyword or title, so that people can see if there is a thread that has their desired topic for discussion, or to see whether there is such a thread before making a similar one? I don't post often and on most of these forums, but if I have something that I want to discuss about, there are so many threads that I can't just click next page one by one so that I can see if it exists. I want to search it to see if there is a topic the one that I am thinking about. For example, if I want to talk about favorite NBA team, I want to make sure that no one else has already made a thread like this. So I would type "NBA" in the search engine, and it can give me threads that has that word in it, so that I can discuss in it.

Is this possible or do you already have it and I did not look through it?

there is a search feature but it is currently restricted. I think the problem is that it is not efficient so when it's used it really slows the board down.

This means it could be used maliciously to slow Vizzed to a grinding halt if someone wanted to.

I wish there was a search function that everyone could use, or trusteds only or something like that... but currently there is not.

I have always wondered this myself. It would stop a lot of the dupe threads before even getting made and would make the site more navigable.

Has there been any potential solutions or alternative way to be able to have something like that happen? It would be really helpful, and especially for those who don't spend a lot of time on this board posting stuff, can use less time to do more things on here.

I doubt it'll be fixed any time soon. The search feature is from the old code and it hasn't been updated yet. It was run on boards MUCH smaller than this one with a lot fewer people on it at any one time so it wasn't a problem. Now it is unfortunately. And with all the things David is working on I don't see it being fixed in the foreseeable future, or any alternative being put forward.

Your best bet right now is to simply make a thread and if it is a duplicate then it will get closed and you'll likely get linked to the existing thread.
