http://www.calgaryherald.com/technology/story.html?id=3872612

Calgary is currently the 2nd coldest place on the earth (recorded obviously)....

"The website reported a temperature of -27 F (or about -33 C) at the Springbank Airport at 10:57 a.m. Tuesday

The only place colder – anywhere – was the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica, where it was -36 F (or -38 C), according to wx-now.com."

It's only November and we're already this cold.... I haven't been outside today

Wow, that's really cold. Isn't the Arctic/Antarctic around -40C?

I'm glad I don't live there, it's only like -4 here. Still cold.

yeah.... you also have to remember that with the wind chill you would drop that another 10-15 degress so any temperature you see is actually high.... so if it says -27F the wind chill puts that around -37 to -42F.... that is COLD.

Yeah, it's like 20 degrees fahrenheit here right now. Good thing is that I don't have any school. Bad thing is that it's so cold I don't even want to go outside. :/ And I love the outside, too! Whatever, just gotta get used to being lazy, you know, on the computer and stuff.

we're just tougher than most other people

it's not too different from the places that are 100+F during the summer.... you simply stay out of it and take precautions to prevent harm. And you wait it out. You warm your car up for 10 minutes before you leave and you wear extra clothing. Not much else you can do

It got to around -35 F here a few years back (with a -45 wind chill I believe).

There have actually been a lot colder places recorded:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_weather_records#Lowest_temperatures_ever_recorded

According to that, the coldest place ever recorded (not counting antarctica) was Green Land with a temp of −87 °F. Antarctica can get up to -120.

yeah, I guess my first post didn't make that very clear

that only refers to today.... This is really strange for November in Calgary. Usually we get this in January or February... not November.

How on Earth do you live in temperatures that cold!? I can't hardly stand it when it hits 30f... but I prefer the cold as opposed to the heat. More ways to warm up than cool down. Kinda strange considering that I live in a tropical location...

Whoa. I hope you don't turn into a popsicle when you do decide to venture outside. Where I live it can go from being 10 degrees to being 70 degrees. IN ONE DAY.

Rasen - you get used to it honestly. It doesn't stay this cold for long. A week or 2 at the most. You pretty much go outside only if you absolutely have to.... and if you have to go anywhere for an extended period of time then you wear long underwear ... it makes a huge difference

I've gone running when it was 0 F degrees and a -30 F windchill and even though I had a face mask and warm pants, my legs were so cold that I could barely feel them. I seriously could've stuck a pin in my leg and I probably wouldn't have been in any pain.

Where I live, we get both extremes. In the winter we can get up to -40 F windchill and in the summer we can get temperatures of up to 110 F. Not as cold as where Geeogree lives but if you've ever watched a Green Bay Packer game in Lambeau feild in December or February, you get a good idea of how painful the weather can get.

I cannot even imagine so much cold. Where I live in winter means 68ºF (20ºC - and I can't stand it). And during summer we have to cope w/ temperatures around 104ºF (40ºC).
