How To Become A Professional Violinist
Follow These Special Tips:

1. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE (the main thing)
2. If you have trouble playing a piece, play it slowly a bunch of times then try to play it fast when you get the basic idea.
3. Use vibrato, it helps, makes the piece sound better and the more you use it the more you sound great.
4. Play different pieces once and a while just to get the feeling of notes, rhythms, and other creations.
5. Know the violin, know the parts, know the strings, and KNOW THE FINGERINGS.

Although I already know how to do all these things as I play my violin regularily, it is good to know that somebody else knows the guide to getting good. Was this supposed to be directed to somebody speifically, or were you just sharing with the rest of the world the violin tip guide of knowledge, lol?

Best Keep your concience as clean as you can, or charma will come with a blade in it's hand. It will strike all those who seek to gain without giving, and spare all of those who are weak and forgiving.

Damonrulz156 : Are you a professional violinist? I've been in a ton of orchestras, on both the violin and the viola, and definitely have seen those tips work in practice. I disagree with number three somewhat, though, in that it is not always applicable. Sometimes composers ask for that in their parts. Also, it can work like dynamics by adding balance to a piece, preventing it from getting too cluttered with vibrato, which in my opinion, can be overdone. I think it's cool to see a thread like this, being a musician myself.

If you don't mind, I'd like to add a few suggestions of my own to people out there trying to improve:

1. Before adding vibrato, try to get the feel of the peace, the bowings, etc. Once you have those, you'll be able to add vibrato more effectively.
2. If you're in an orchestra, try playing your part(s) standing up first, then sitting down. I find that it's more difficult for me to get the feel of my part sitting down.

Lol, I'm not a pro though.

1. Don't attempt to use 1 tuner only if you're not in a professional level yet. I use 3.
2. Don't be thrifty. Buy a violin that is right for your level and length of your arms. For starters, buy a violin worth atleast 150 USD. Buy a sheet stand, shoulder rest, and definitely clean your violin.
3. Get used to basics first before attempting vibrato. You can practice it later when you atleast know the first hand position.
4. Don't depend on other people ( like teachers) to always tune the violin for you. Ask them to teach you instead and you do the rest. Always have a piano or a keyboard at your side or a tuning software in your computer to help you tune your violin.

Actually, about vabrato, once you get the basics down pat, try using vabrato in songs you can play. Eventually, it will become a habit and you will be using it in almost any song you play.

Do you have any advice on learning vibrato? I'm in an advanced middle school orchestra and have been trying to learn vibrato for over a year, but I can still barely do it. I practice it almost every day, and my orchestra conductor has tried to teach me, and my violin teacher tried to teach me, but I still can't do it.

well first off one way to get the feeling of vibrato is place your thumb under the curve of the neck/finger board and put your other 4 fingers on the top next to the finger board, then push the top of your palm on the side over and over again to get the feeling. then put one finger on the finger board and your thumb under it like normal and start shaking your hand sideways using your arm or your hand to move it. i use hand vibrato cause to me arm vibrato feels weird. i hope i could help you with your problems and i tried my best to put it in word so there ya go.
