Yesterday I set out to do my exercise bike for 8 hours (I get obsessive when I work out and like to push myself) so I figured I'd need lots of energy for that kind of training, so I drank a Hydrive (145 MG of Caffeine and other energy from vitamins), a Crystal Light Energy drink (120 MG of Caffeine) and a Stacker 3. Now little did I know that a Stacker 3 has 240 MG of caffeine alone, along with 275 MG worth of other energy. I definitely had no intentions of consuming this much energy within an hour, nor did I realize I was taking in so much energy but I sure started to regret it within a half hour...

Within a half hour of consuming all of that Caffeine (around 500 MG total, and probably the equivalent to around 750 if you include the other stuff in a Stacker 3) I started to feel awful side effects, such as:
-Dizziness
-Really bad nausea
-Numbness and tingling of my lips and hands
-Troubles breathing
-Cold sweats
-Constantly having to urinate every 10 minutes (only lasted an hour)
-Really bad jitters
-Serious insomnia
-Fatigue (started happening after a few hours and only lasted an hour)

I seriously felt like I was going to have a heart attack since I felt awful and had a few of the signs, I had to lye down and moving around would make me feel worst. All of this lasted about 5 or so hours, and I was able to take a half hour nap as well which helped me feel a little bit better. After the 5 hours all of the side effects were gone except the insomnia, that's when that started kicking in and even 12 hours after taking all that caffeine, I felt like I had no ability to sleep. Eventually I was able to fall asleep and I now feel a lot better but I'll probably still have troubles sleeping tonight since I've read that people who take Stacker 3 could have troubles sleeping for up to 72 hours.

After all of this took place, I looked on the internet to see what happened to me. I read about a lot of people having bad side effects and experiences with Stacker 3 but I eventually came across something called 'Caffeine Intoxication', which can occur if more than 240-300 MG of Caffeine is consumed all at once (which is equivalent to 2-3 cups of coffee). I had over 2 times that much Caffeine and after reading the side effects of Caffeine Intoxication, I definitely think I had a combination of Caffeine Intoxication and the possible side effects of a Stacker 3. To put into perspective of how much caffeine I had all at once, that's equivalent to 14 cans of Coca Cola, 9 cans of Mountain Dew, 7 cans of Vault, 6 cans of Red Bull, or about 4-5 cups of Coffee - all at once.

Here's some of the symptoms of Caffeine Intoxication according to Wikipedia:
"The symptoms of caffeine intoxication are not unlike overdoses of other stimulants. It may include restlessness, fidgetiness, nervousness, excitement, euphoria, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irritability, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation.[103] In cases of much larger overdoses, mania, depression, lapses in judgment, disorientation, disinhibition, delusions, hallucinations, and psychosis may occur, and rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue) can be provoked."

My conclusion is that Caffeine is just as dangerous as any other drug or alcohol when overly consumed, and it doesn't take much to overdose on Caffeine. And after further research, people who use Caffeine daily and are addicted can have serious mental side effects such as depression, irritability, thoughts of suicide, etc and these things are even greater when a person addicted to Caffeine go without it for to long. What happens when someone takes Caffeine or drinks Coffee daily is that their body becomes dependent on it and it's almost impossible for them to function without it since their body has gotten use to not having to produce as much energy (ever been around a Coffee drinker when they went the morning without their Coffee? It's scary). I know it's a trend now days for teenagers to drink tons of energy drinks but there are side effects to consuming that much energy daily and even worst side effects when consuming to much at once or in a short period of time. And really, it's kinda pointless to consume caffeine if you're not using it for something that requires mental alertness or for a physical workout.

Wow, I learned something there.
That sucks for you David, but hopefully you'll feel a lot better soon
Good thing I don't drink a lot of caffiene before I work out, I wouldn't have known that this could happen.

Oh, it's sad that you learnt about it with the difficult way
I generally avoid caffeine, because it makes me nervous, it makes my heart beating too fast and my fingers are fidgeting for hours
So, the last years, the only source of caffeine in my daily life is chocolate, lol

Davideo7 : I think I'll watch how much caffeine I consume now. That sounds like it sucks, and its kind of scary to read some of those symptoms. It probably would give teenagers around my age a heart attack or an dangerously high heart rate. I hope you feel better soon.

JigSaw : Drinking it moderately daily is fine, especially if you're doing something productive which requires the brain stimulation and in your case, you program. And yeah, overdosing on Caffeine is awful, interesting to see others have similar experiences.

Could just try taking a shower for energy sometimes that makes you feel better and more energized. In fact, I am pretty sure water is a really powerful conductor for energy so that is way to go

Sometimes I could hope for a little bit of energy like that, but that's a no. I feel for you, and I would laugh but it was pretty serious. Good luck and God bless.

Yeah caffiene sucks when it keeps you up at night. I mean I'll drink a pop or two, which adds up to over 100 mg of caffiene, and yet I'll be able to go to sleep, however I'll keep waking up randomly like every hour or so. So then I wake up the next morning feeling totally drained anyways. Oh well. Enough about me.

That must've sucked with your body being that crazy. How long did it take for the effects to COMPLETELY disappear?

RideZeLitenin : For the effects to mostly go away took 5 hours but even now I still feel like I have some energy in me so I'll probably do the bike again today to burn off what I didn't yesterday.

I drank tons of caffenie before one of my races once. This is the worst thing in the world to do. Like you said all of those side effects kick in and it is just terrible. You feel really weird and not in a good way. It goes from woah this is weird to GET ME OUT OF THIS! I really do not consume much caffenie because I know of the affects. Not just that but then you can kiss your teeth good bye.

Whats funny about that is the same thing can happen from drinking to much water to fast well except from the insomnia, Further more i can relate to the jitters and stuff of that nature cause, I used to be a Barista at a local Coffee shop. The owner as ignorant as he was allowed us unlimited drinks while on shift, bad idea right? I thought so considering one of my co-workers bet me I couldnt drink 24 2 oz. shots of esspresso in a 8 hour shift, You all should have seen me try and explain what a pumpkin spice latte was to this customer after this incident, it was rather priceless Thank you for your time peace love chicken grease
