Looking at certain covers I think that not even me could have done worse. Isn't it a safe bet the designers of the covers below were enemy spies trying to bring the company down? These game covers that were made during a mental diarrhea, don't you agree? Got some just like those? Post'em here!

#1 obvious. The worse thing ever created by humans. Is Mega Man really carrying a revolver? I just cannot believe in my eyes

Mega Man

Mega Man 2 Europe/Mega Man 2 Us

2 games here. One about an old banjo guy who travels in supersonics planes and other about superman. Wait a minute, that Superman? The one from Krypton? Louis Lane's Superman? Why, why is he carrying a gun?

You know, I've always wondered why people on Sega thought that a white cover filled w/ squares and a small pic would be nice. The reunion to decide covers layout must had run like that: "Covers...ha...who cares on them? Le's just have a black noun in a white page." "No, white is way too white. Let's have some squares on it. Squares are cool" "Even better, let's just add a small silly picture."
The second one was was made by the designer's 8-year-old daughter. He was too tired to think on something.

Now one from the series girls-are-too-expensive-let's-use-a-disguised-guy-instead and one from the series I-don't-know-how-to-use-paint

These are from the series games-are-too-boring-let's-have-some porn

The last ones. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Donkey Kong a Mario's game? So what's Superman doing there? And the last one is...aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, what is it? No, mom, please, I promise I'll eat all my green, just take it out of here!

And the honour mention

I have a good new and a bad new about this game. Bad, it is for real. Good, it was made, but not released (lucky!) The name is "Chou Aniki - Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko", it was a prototype for PlayStation and Sega Saturn and it's a bi-dimensional surrealist perverted shmup with real people (or something like that). The game wasn't officially released (not the full version, at least). If you curious, here's a gameplay video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NgKDApaZEU&feature=player_embedded

So, I think I did a good work. Now I have a very nice collection of monstrosities. What do you think?

--------------
PS2: Fine.
Mega Driver with 71 games: Nice.
Super Nintendo bought at the fair for US$ 25,00: Double Nice.
Turbo Game VG9000T bought at the same fair for US$ 5,00: Just Great.
Black Mega Driver 3 found in a trash can with 4 cartridges: works like a charm.
Long in the tooth Atari: running smoothly
Xbox360 Falcon bought for US$ 700,00, used for 6 months: May devil be with it and guard it

I think that the cover for the original Mega Man was the worst as well. I have always thought that, and it will probably never change. By the way, I think his should go in Video Game Polls & Crazyness or something.

Ha that was great. I still wonder to this day why would you think that it is good to have a mega man cover like that. He looks nothing like that!

Vizwiz allow me to disagree. It's not a poll nor craziness. I mean, the guys whom made those covers are crazy, for sure, but not the thread itself. It's a discusion on the uglier covers of all times. And I've posted only old games covers, So I think it's in the right section: retro game room/game discussion. And since the moderator is going to stop by, can I ask you an off topic question, DarkHyre? How do we summon someone who had not replied to the topic, like vizwiz did?

Well, if it doesn't belong in Video Game Polls & Crazyness, then it would belong in Video Games. This particular forum is only for Help with Retro Games or questions about them. Someone could post a cover of a new game, then this thread would be about bad video game covers in general. You could change this to "worst Retro Game Cover" or something, and it would go into the "Retro Games" forum.

To summon someone who has not posted here, in your reply, type out their name and put a colon next to it. You only get one shot, as you can't edit your post to summon someone. Like this...

At first I thought the game with all the gay smex was porn. Seems that the makers were able to cover all that up on the case...too bad :3

Anyways, yeah, the Mega man cover does suck. Pretty detailed little post. Nice job.

Oh, really? Then, sorry. I posted it here because I thought the help forum was a bit further down and this one was for discussions about retro games. Now that you clarified it, then my other thread might be at the wrong place too. Anyway, DarkHyren will probably stop by and fix it then. Let he who holds the power decide

vizwiz123 : hey, look, I learnt! Thanx

I can think of some of the worst video game covers many for the Nes many of them should of been thought over more before they were released to the public and the Mega Man ones are not that bad not like the ones I have seen but of course that's my opinion and what I think the game play was not bad it was the game cover.

1. Zombie Nation - Zombie Nation, or Samurai Zombie Nation as the in-game title screen calls it, is a 1990 NES action game developed by KAZe. In Japan, it is known as Abarenbō Tengu (暴れん坊天狗?, lit. "Hooligan Tengu"). This game is known for its strange juxtaposition of zombies and samurai.

In Zombie Nation, the floating samurai head, Namakubi, is sent to the United States to destroy Darc Seed - an alien who crashed to Earth via a meteorite and turned all the American people into zombies. Namakubi must recover the samurai sword Shura and destroy Darc Seed and its minions.

2. Yo Noid! - Yo! Noid is a platform video game released in the United States for the NES by Capcom during November, 1990. It stars the Noid, the claymation mascot of Domino's Pizza in the late 1980s, going through fourteen different side-scrolling levels throughout various locations of New York City (including an 8-bit rendition of Central Park) to battle his evil duplicate, Mr. Green, for the public good, and for the massive pizza reward.[4] The game is a modified version of an earlier Japanese release called Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru

3.Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (ジーキル博士の彷魔が刻, Jekyll Hakase no Hōma ga Toki?) is a 1988 side-scrolling action video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System loosely based on the novel Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.[2] Gameplay alternates between the characters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde based on the player's ability to either avoid or cause damage.
