Looking at certain covers I think that not even me could have done worse. Isn't it a safe bet the designers of the covers below were enemy spies trying to bring the company down? These game covers that were made during a mental diarrhea, don't you agree? Got some just like those? Post'em here!

You know, I've always wondered why people on Sega thought that a white cover filled w/ squares and a small pic would be nice. The reunion to decide covers layout must had run like that: "Covers...ha...who cares on them? Le's just have a black noun in a white page." "No, white is way too white. Let's have some squares on it. Squares are cool" "Even better, let's just add a small silly picture."
The second one was was made by the designer's 8-year-old daughter. He was too tired to think on something.

I have a good new and a bad new about this game. Bad, it is for real. Good, it was made, but not released (lucky!) The name is "Chou Aniki - Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko", it was a prototype for PlayStation and Sega Saturn and it's a bi-dimensional surrealist perverted shmup with real people (or something like that). The game wasn't officially released (not the full version, at least). If you curious, here's a gameplay video

I think that the cover for the original Mega Man was the worst as well. I have always thought that, and it will probably never change. By the way, I think his should go in Video Game Polls & Crazyness or something.

Vizwiz allow me to disagree. It's not a poll nor craziness. I mean, the guys whom made those covers are crazy, for sure, but not the thread itself. It's a discusion on the uglier covers of all times. Well, if it doesn't belong in Video Game Polls & Crazyness, then it would belong in Video Games. This particular forum is only for Help with Retro Games or questions about them. Someone could post a cover of a new game, then this thread would be about bad video game covers in general. You could change this to "worst Retro Game Cover" or something, and it would go into the "Retro Games" forum.

I can think of some of the worst video game covers many for the Nes many of them should of been thought over more before they were released to the public and the Mega Man ones are not that bad not like the ones I have seen but of course that's my opinion and what I think the game play was not bad it was the game cover.

1. Zombie Nation - Zombie Nation, or Samurai Zombie Nation as the in-game title screen calls it, is a 1990 NES action game developed by KAZe. In Japan, it is known as Abarenbō Tengu (暴れん坊天狗?, lit. "Hooligan Tengu"). This game is known for its strange juxtaposition of zombies and samurai.
