I am failing on every vocab test in my English class and I might have to get held back if I get a semester end F.

hoguan : I am a writer so I can give you some advice here… What in particular are you having trouble with in regard to vocabulary? I was always solid when it came to English so I can probably help you. My first suggestion is to use the internet as a research tool. I would do a Google search for things like Vocabulary exercises and, even online vocabulary text books.

I would then read up on what ever I could find and assuming you could find some vocabulary lessons; I would drill myself to make sure I comprehended the material. I also suggest working on your diction and pronunciations. When I was in school one thing they taught me that was actually good for drills is when I had a spelling test or something like that the homework material would be to either write each word on the test three to five times each and then work on using those words in sentences in order to work on grammar and proper word usage.

I hope that this will help you… It is always best to do independent things beyond your normal school work to better comprehend what you’re learning. If you can find some of what I suggested and put it to good use you will improve. Try not to get discouraged and keep working at it and you will make progress.

I wish you the best of luck hitting the books.

I would suggest reading more books to enhance your vocabulary. And if you have the money..you should hire a professional tutor to assist you. Vocabulary is very important in the real world so it's definitely worth it. i'm sure you'll pass if you put effort into wanting to learn and try harder......good luck!
