As far as "beating" a game, I would have to say Twilight Princess took me the longest to beat, due to the fact that I encountered a game ending glitch towards the end of the game (when you have to talk to the Harry Potter dude in order to operate the Cannon that gets you to the Sky City). Plus, I had already been off to playing other games like Super Paper Mario, which basically procrasinated the issue of starting over and creating a new file, which I REALLY didn't want to do.
The games I've put the most time into are SSB Brawl and Rock Band 2, with Monster Hunter Tri closely behind.

There were tons of games that took forever because I was young during the NES and SNES days and there were no hints cheats. I think it took me over 60 hours to beat Final Fantasy 3, At least 60 hours to beat Zelda Ocarina of Time. I also remember Phantasy Star 4 taking around 70 hours to beat.

My longest Game was Final Fantasy VIII.At the time I found a way to get Lvl 99 on the 1st disc, since the lvl up system only need 10k to lvl up every time get easy if you find a place were monster give about 3k per fight.Also spend lot of time grind magic...that was a pain...but still one of my favorite game on playstation one. -------------------- |

Super Mario Galaxy. It takes forever with Mario alone for 120 stars then you have to do it with Luigi all over again. 1 Bonus star for each Bro when 120 Stars and Bowser defeated. If you haven't played it, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. SMG2 might take longer as well!
#2 would be Earthbound... I'm still not 60% done and I took HOURS on it.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Smash Bros Brawl are probably the two longest for me. Galaxy 2 took forever to beat, then even longer with the Green Stars. Grandmaster Galaxy was almost impossible with the Daredevil Comet.
Brawl Subspace Emissary takes long enough. I still haven't finished the Board of prizes (I forget what it's called). I haven't found every single sticker yet or all of the character trophies, nor do I know how to.
