Well, there was two phases actually.
Phase one was a few weeks ago in the morning before I left to go pick up people for gaming, when the following dialogue occured: Ben : So, I was thinking... Elara : Yes? B : When we have some free time, we should go shopping so you can pick out a ring that you like. e : *pause and smirk* Is that a proposal? B : No, not really. I figure that I can do that once we have the ring. e : So why are you having me pick it out and spoil the surprise? B : So that I know it is a ring you want, beside I already know you will say yes. e : ... *roll eyes but smiling* Okay. So we went the next week to the Jewelry Exchange in Tustin (deep in Orange County) after I had done a lot of looking about online and picked out this really nice wedding set that after tax and the diamond cost about $851. The ring was sitting in it's little box in a silver bag on the shelf, and all that I knew was that he would ask before we moved. I think he had to work pretty hard to not have me guess his plans, and he looked up all kinds of ideas. Ended up going on websites looking for ideas. Wednesday night, before going to sleep, Ben was like "you know what I want?" and I was expecting him to say ice cream since it was so hot outside, so I asked "what?" And he replied "For you to marry me." Needless to say, I did not see it coming.

We kinda have to work on a budget, so unless we get a major windfall in the next two years it is going to have to be pretty simple. We are considering splurging a bit and either having it on a boat or on Catalina Island. I mean, people fly out to Hawaii for people's weddings, so what is so bad about a boat ride to a nearby island? Just going with the boat might be the better idea though.
Remember that the $851 was for two rings, I also have the matching wedding band in a box waiting for me. Whole set The settings (rings) cost $366 on their own, and the diamond cost nearly the same price... and it's only 1/3 carat with a few tiny but visible flaws in it (you have to really look, but they are there... and honestly, I don't give a damn). It really looks just like in the above picture.
