Hi everyone, its me again!, I want to ask if Televangelists like Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell were a good influence on Christians. In my opinion they are not. For me, to be a Christian is having a personal relationship with God. To me Televangelist give a bad name to God, Jesus, and all other Christians and aspects of Christianity. Televangelist like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson have been know for some of their controversial comments and views. Like Pat Robertson's opinion on 9/11, and other religion. Not to mention his view on the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, what kind of man calls himself a Christian when you don't even show compassion to the most unfortunate non-Christians. Then he made claims that other Christians like Catholics were harboring the Antichrist. That offends me because I have a friend who is Catholic, It just saddens me that such a person could exist especially one who calls himself a Christian. Besides that, many of theses Televangelist are very rich. I mean look at Billy Graham he lives in a big mansion, the same could be said for Joel Osteen and Jerry Falwell. Then there are the political views. Many or most televangelist are republican and conservative. I know that having God in government is a good thing but, these guys want to spread dominance instead of hope. Then there is the televangelist view on education. For me personally having God in school wouldn't be bad, but it is mainly a place to get an education and make friends. I don't know a lot about Christianity yet, but my question is this what are Christian's views on Televangelist?

it's my personal opinion that televangelists do what they do to make money.... not to help save people.

I can't say that's true of ALL of them.... and I won't say that the don't do some good in the world or that through them God can't touch people and help them change their ways.... but the lifestyles that some of these men lead makes me think they are not men of God but men of greed.

Like I said, not all of them are like this, but many are.

Plus when you see some of the stuff Pat Robertson says it's appalling. Is he right? Maybe. Maybe certain people are punished because of the sins they are committing.... but the way that opinion was presented was so callous and cold that you wonder how "Christian" he is when he has little or no compassion for those people.

I don't think Billy Graham is considered a televangelist. In fact, I don't think Billy Graham should be in the same category as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, he does spend most of his life going to different places and different countries to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

There's nothing wrong about being conservative and republican. I guess it just depends on what the political party supports in terms of the issues.

Also I don't hear a lot from Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, so I'm not that familiar with what they say. Is it possible that you can give some of the controversial comments that they give?

When I am alone, Give me Jesus.
When I come to die, Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world, Just give me Jesus."

I have deep amounts of hate for television preaching, but if it is good for one person, so be it. If it just fills one will buttheaded crap, someone ask God to pull a lightning bolt out and throw it at the preacher while he's driving. *sigh* I only have hang ups with it since it feels less honest, and I was being bothered by someone who followed the preachings of some guy from a New Faith something something church in Singapore. The guy was so simple minded, and would always cause trouble with other Christians. He just went and quoted the preacher, acted like an idiot, caused fights, and just simply made a bad name for himself so much, that I began despising the idea of watching preachers on TV.

The only good thing that New Faith something something church preacher had to say to me was a joke about women or bras. I actually have hate for certain images because of the follower of that preacher. He even told me I had a lot of problems when I said I felt life wasn't worth it once. Yeah... He kinda just pointed out the obvious there, and then went on about how grace is all you need or some grace related stuff.

I don't think its much of a question of how much they care as much as it is if the message is biblical, which I do think most of them care.
