For all those people who have played the game Dissidia Final Fantasy for the PSP and have been paying attention to this year's TGS(and some leaks before that), you'd know that there's a sequel coming called "Dissidia Duodecim."
Now, they've announced that all the characters are returning from the last game and adding Kain from FFIV, Tifa from FFVII, and Lightning from FFXIII. I'm pretty excited to play this game since I thought that the first game was a very fun, solid title with only some issues, like the story was somewhat laughable for a Final Fantasy game(even for a spinoff).
Based on the leaked trailer from TGS, the game also shows tag team battling, which is already pretty prominent in the fighter genre, but it's still interesting that they decided to add that. The tag team feature won't be available whenever you like though, so I think that's pretty balanced out. I'm not sure if there would be team based attacks, but I'm sure they're adding more attacks to the movelists of the last game's character list and balancing out old attacks, which is a good move. The game would also allow you to transfer your save file from the first game(which is great, since I've spent so much time on the first game leveling up everyone :LOL
So, basically, I'm psyched for this game and I can't wait to hear more. But what I'm really curious is what characters will they add to the game. Nomura said that the game won't add new characters to EVERY game, but there won't be just a "handful" of new characters.
So, what's your opinion? Who do you think is going to be a new character in this game?

For extra characters, I cant really see them releasing any more for ff1, or ff3, haven't played ff2 but I'm guessing probably not for that one too.

Kain seems the best choice for ff4, haven't finished ff5 a lot of people are saying Gilgamesh is a good choice, haven't played ff6 yet.

I would of preferred Zack or Vincent Valentine instead of Tifa, although they may release more than 1 extra character for some popular final fantasies. Although Zack would probably play too similar to Cloud's style.

Seifer seems like a good choice for FF8, he is linked story-wise to Squall and Ultimecia. So is Rinoa perhaps.

Haven't played ff9 yet.

Yuna seems to be an almost certain choice for ff10, but probably the way she looks in the second ff10 (haven't played it forgot what it was called), Seymour maybe if there's a lack of villains.

Haven't played ff11 or 12. Haven't finished ff13 yet but Snow looks like the best choice. Not sure who will be the villain though... I'm only up to chapter 11 so I can't really tell.

THP : Yeah I don't really understand why Gilgamesh is a good choice exactly since he's also a summon... I'd choose someone like Lenna, Galuf, or Faris over him, though they'd be essentially the same since none of the characters in your party had defining features other than their personalities and looks.

Do yourself a favor, and play FFVI . It's my favorite of all time(that I've played so far). Aren't a lot of villains other than Kefka that would be suitable for Dissidia though...

Well, I doubt they'd have Vincent, since they're also planning to add Cloud's Kingdom Hearts costume, which is based off of his costume, into the game via access codes in Birth By Sleep Final Mix(which, I don't know how US players are gonna get that access code since Final Mix is sold only in Japan.) I'd also want Zack and Genesis to have in, but I don't know if Nomura's thinking of adding Compilation characters... or spinoff characters for that matter(Final Fantasy Tactics characters!!! I hope xD)

Seifer is also what I think, but supposedly his style would be too similar to Squall's. Rinoa would be the next in line.

Yeah, I've also heard stuff about Yuna and Seymour as some people's choices. And yes, also the whole Gunner dress sphere from X-2(I've never played X or X-2, thanks to a lack of Sony systems)

Never played any past VIII... but I do know that some people want Beatrix in from FFIX, they DON'T want Vaan from XII, and instead they'd like Balthier or Basch, and some people suggested Cid Raines as the villain representing XIII, though I bet he's not that big of a villain. Meh, not all of the villains in Dissidia were the main ones I think.

mdynasty926 : Speaking of kingdom hearts I hope they'll put Sora in it, even though he's not part of the main final fantasy branch, he's a really popular character.

Also I hear that the game is gonna be a prequel to dissidia, the reason it's called Duodecim 012 is apparantly because it's the 12th war in the game, which is before the 13th and final war which takes place in the first dissidia (not sure about this, it's probably mentioned in the cosmos / chaos reports).

I hope that it is good. I loved the first game and pretty much maxed everyone out, I didn't even own it! I hope the next one is good I still don't have a PSP and if this and God of War end up being good I might get one.

THP : yep you're right, it's called Duodecim or Dissidia 012 because it's the 12th cycle(Duodecim is like Latin that means that refers to the number 12 too), which makes Duodecim a prequel to the first one, which is the 13th cycle.

I'm hoping to see a much better story for it now, because the first one's was alright, but a bit underwhelming for an FF game. I'm hoping that the story would also be a more tragic one, because it seems that way, considering how it's the cycle before that, and they must've lost or not ended the cycle. Also, it should explain why Lightning, Kain, Tifa, and whoever else joins the cast didn't return in the first game(in a story sense of course, not literally why xD). Seeing the TGS trailer tells me a lot of things, and I'm liking what I'm seeing

Kuja is apparently fighting for Cosmos in the story? And Terra might be fighting as a Warrior of Chaos(against her will) because some people think she's wearing the Slave Crown(reference to FFVI when Terra was mind-controlled) in the trailer, which, I can see that too(oh, and don't worry, the Slave Crown thing is a really early event in FFVI, so I'm not spoiling anything xD) And there's all this other weird confusing stuff like the Warrior of Light being called a traitor by Lightning and other fun stuff like that lol, so I do hope the game's story is much better than the first.

Don't know about Sora being put into the game though. I think Nomura said he considered it, but he trashed the idea... I guess it's still possible now that Cloud has his KH costume... still wanting those Final Fantasy Tactics characters in there though xD. Ramza and Delita would be awesome
