I went to get my wisdom teeth on the right side of my mouth cut out. That surgery went fine. But when I came back to get the teeth on the left side cut out, the stupid orthodontist couldn't find my veins, even though he found them perfectly well the first time. So he puts this mask thingy over my nose and I start breating in this stuff that's supposed to make veins show up better. Well my body didn't like the stuff so my heart statred racing and I almost had a heart attack.
The nurses took the mask off of my face and gave me sonme oxygen. Well the orthodontist went ahead with the surgery anyway. Right as the anesthetic went into my system I had a heart attack. The orhtodontist gave me something to counteract the anesthetic and I woke up in about an hour.
What happened was the orthodontist gave me the anesthetic too soon after my heart rate went up. So the anesthetic got in my system and caused a heart attack. But the orthodontist tried to blame it one me, saying that "That would only have happened if she is on drugs"
I'm not on any frickin drugs. So yeah. I hate orthodontists.

Wow, craziness. That really sucks. I would tell him to f*** off and stop blaming his shortcomings as a professional on others.

After reading your post, Chaos, I come to the conclusion you were on a drug, in a way. The gas that was used on you. Drug or not, something that affects your body may linger long enough to react with something else. Now, I'm not saying that's the case, but I put that out there just for your argument's sake.

Because this guy obviously doesnt know what he is doing and others need to know about it.

Sounds like he failed the medical ethics part of his degree...

Hope you are doing ok, and be sure to go to a real doctor and get a check up if you havnt.

Being from Scotland It makes me wonder how much you had to pay him for the privelge of his malpractise? Its really shocking that they could be so incompetent. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed for free but was sent to a hospital rather than a separate orthodontist.It went swimmingly for me but i did start to sweat when i was told the Doctor was going to do one side and then a student would do the other.Both were great though and it was quite amusing in my airy state to have my head wiggled as they tried to remove them and taste the blood and see the odd spatter but maybe thats just me.I had a crush on my second last dentist...

Cyro Xero : Yeah you're right. It was the anesthetic mixing with the gas that caused the heart attack. The orthodontist was just trying to cover his ass by blaming me.

DarkHyren : I would file a malpractice suit but my grandma was the one that drove me home from the failed surgery and she didn't take me to the hospital right away for a drug test. If she'd have done that we could have filed a suit, but it's too late now. But I'm deffiniately not going back to him.

why would someone, being a doctor messing up, ever blame the other person!? he must be fired before he kills somebody and blames it on suicide! hope you get better, hope the doctor gets the worst.

Amazing how people act nowadays huh? What a jerk, I would have went crazy if he is blaming his messup on me. He is a orthodonist he should be smarter than that. Oh well, that is just life for ya. Sorry about that.

Damn that is crazy but I think they are not to blame; even though they are lol (don't they make you sign something saying if anything goes wrong you cannot sue them). That is how it is with most things like that. If they mess up they get off for free dam bastards! I think if anything goes wrong the whole thing should be free of charge its the least they could do.

I had a similar experience but probably not as serious as yours.

I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out at once.. I have a big fear of needles that I can't control, so when I got the IV put in my arm I started shaking uncontrollably. I couldn't calm down. Mostly I was freaked out because of the shaking. I wanted to stop shaking and crying but I couldn't.

I went under, but my brain was still having a panic attack. During the time I was anesthetized I hallucinated a lot of bizarre and painful things. I tried really hard to say something to tell the doctor what was wrong, but I couldn't move. I couldn't tell I was anesthetized so it felt real.

I can't really explain it properly. It was one of the most traumatic and terrifying experiences of my life. I was totally freaking out and I instantly burst into tears when I woke up. It was really disturbing. I was messed up for the rest of the day.

Well, the drugs you were on were the ones that he gave you! Stupid orthodontists, I hate them so much. They don't even care about the people or even about messing up, they have so much malpractice insurance and so much money, all they want to do is make the line go as fast as possible and do as many people in one day as they can, so they can make even more money to help them pay off all the times they mess up. I'm really sorry that happened to you, that's really scary

Annette : You poor sweetheart At least when you were on the drugs after you got them pulled you made some very serious and important lifestyle decisions. Some good came out of it, sort of.

BTowns : I didn't make those decisions because I was on painkillers, I just happened to be on painkillers at the time. I don't need to remind you that I've been vegan for seven months now, right?
