Would you ever marry someone if you were close to them? This isn't really talking about "I don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend so no" its more about would you do it if you had a bf/gf and the time was right?

For me, no way and I'm going to be honest here of why.

1. I don't like kids
2. Too much money
3. I don't want to loose 50% of what if divorce happened
4. I'm not a people person dont like to socialize, so I don't think it would last long
5. As I look back I notice all the hell I have put my parents through
6. There is a good chance your children will hate you and rebel

So would you? And list reasons why!

Ive been told by too many people to NEVER GET MARRIED. But when I look at these peoples marriages it seems like they rushed into things and that they were never really a good match to begin with.

I think that I could possibly get married to a woman if she was exactly what I was looking for. And that chances of that are very slim. So basically if everything was perfect I could see me getting married and starting a family.

I want to be honest too, I don't think that I'll end up married.
As long as the kids part, although I'm good with kids and they like me a lot(both my nephews and the kids at my university practice), I don't want to have them all the time with me, even if they're going to be mine. I just like having my privacy during my free time

As long as the marriage part, being married is a legal thing for me. This doesn't mean that a legal marriage can make me feel more close to another person. Sometimes, all this pressure, makes people feel uneasy, and maybe it's one of the reasons that lead to so many divorces

Anyway, this is just my point of view. I'm not saying that it's right or social acceptable, it's just my opinion about this topic

Yeah, I plan on doing the whole marriage and kids thing. Relatively soon even, but that is because I have found someone that I feel I can make it work with. We care about each other, we are mature and responsible, and we can live together and not kill the other one.

But yeah, I have always kinda been a hopeless romantic, so I always planned to do it someday. Marriage really just a legal status and I know that, but the symbolic commitment is something that I value as well.

replying to this thread is sort of a moot point.... cause I'm already there

But if I had the choice to do it over again I would do it. I can't imagine being alone all the time. I don't think it's the fault of marriage as an institution but the fault of people who get tired of trying that make marriages fail. Most people (especially now) are too selfish to make a marriage work it seems.

I respect the people who realize they either wouldn't be good marriage or parent material.... but I think you are missing out on something significant by not doing either of those things. Having children means learning how to love unconditionally which is something I don't think you can learn in very many other places. Kids push your limits and if you're not ready for them when you have them it can ruin your life.

So yeah, I'm all for marriage and kids.... but I still respect the choice not to do either if you know you'll just fail at it.

I really have no desire to have children. The idea of being pregnant and responsible for another person's life just scares me. Plus, I want to stay really fit. I don't think I would be able to handle it. Once you have kids, that's it... the next 20 years of your life (or more) has to be dedicated to them. It's like a fricking life sentence!

My wife and I got married during my second year and I think it was the best thing we could have done. Putting in the time being poor and trying to make ends meet while getting educated brought us closer together...

I think too many people wait until life is "perfect" to jump in and do something tough.... and by the time life is perfect they are 30+ and are starting to get too old to do a lot of the things they should have started on 5 or more years earlier.

Not saying you're too old or anything.... cause you're still young... but don't put it off if it's something you want.
