I like all of the Metroid's... I'd say the best of the CD-based is Metroid Prime because it has a more classic aura to the retro Metroids. But Prime 2 and 3 are just as good. For the old I think it's a tie between Zero Mission and Super Metroid. Ultimately though it looks like Other M might be the best because it combines Prime with side-scroll, but it depends on the actual playing length.

I totally agree with tRIUNE. There's something great about most of them. I've played all except for Metroid 2 and Metroid Prime Hunters. I would have to say I like either Metroid Prime or Super Metroid. But all of them are pretty good. For example, Metroid Fusion is more story focused than most of the side scrolling ones, while Metroid Prime 3 is more action/shooter-ish than its other Prime counterparts, with lots of excitement and less dark atmosphere-y vibes and isolation, but still pretty fun over all.

Zero Mission isn't old, it's more of a remake with a couple of new things added. I'd consider it more in the new category.


Anywho, I'll cast my vote for the Prime series being the best ones excluding Hunters. Hunters was good but I don't hold it up to the level I do Prime 1 & 2. I haven't had the chance to play Prime 3 yet. Second for me would be Fusion. I love how story-driven it is. I play games mainly for their stories. I just wish Fusion wasn't so short....then again, the Prime games can be completed in less than 10 hours so they aren't exactly long....

I agree with all you guys that the Prime series is the best.

Before I registered my self on vizzed, I've never even heard of Metroid II or Super Metroid. Now that I've played them (and beat them) my vote goes for all of them.

The newest one, which I'm totally hooked on, is Metroid Other M. It has the 3rd person style of the originals and the 1st person style of Prime. Even though I like them all equally, I still like Prime's dark mood and atmosphere the best.

For old ones, my vote definitely goes to Super Metroid. I can't say much about the more recent, CD based ones, as the newest Nintendo home console I own is a Nintendo 64. However, I have tried Prime at a friends house once before, and I really liked it. So my vote'll have to go towards Metroid: Prime.

The best Metroid of all time EVER has to be Super Metroid. The game was just perfect, the controls and everything was just superb to all other games. I personally am a Metroid 2d purist.

Prime 1 is a lot like Super Metroid, but with Phazon madness.

If you can get it, I'd recommend Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii. It's all 3 Primes on one disc, and it's amazing.

Other M can suck my balls.
