According to a blog post from him, Sakaguchi says, "I'm pouring everything into this one title. The feeling of it perhaps being my last title is strong."
I'm assuming he means that he's working so hard on the game, it's as if it was his last title, and not literally meaning it's his last game. But, what if it was ?
Sakaguchi's one of my favorite developers for video games. In case you haven't already known this, he's the creator of Final Fantasy and after the box office bomb of the movie "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", he left Square and formed a new studio named Mistwalker. Mistwalker and Nintendo are now currently collaborating to create a new Wii title known as "The Last Story."
From what I can see, the Last Story's title is an obvious allusion to his prized franchise Final Fantasy. I know I know, maybe it'll turn out the same way. The Last Story would end up being like Final Fantasy in which it was "supposedly his last" but then he ends up making more of it.
Anyway, I'm really excited for this title. They've recently revealed the debut trailer, which you can find here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/slsj/trailer/
