Crono was playing WolfTeam yesterday, and was starting a 1v1 Knife Death match and a random user walks in the room and says the magic word in the following sentence: "Hey, I bet you got a dumb tattoo, you tattoo "noob". Yep, that'd be it, "Noob". So, Crono burst into flames and says the one thing to shut him up: "Define the term in which you call "Noob"!?" The other player, however just leaves the room and I sit there wondering, "does anyone know what the word "Noob" even means? Or do people just say it just to insult someone?" Crono asks the gamers of Vizzed, "What is you definition for the word "Noob"? Because, seriously, people use the word, without knowing what it means...you get a headshot, immediately, they'll call you a "noob". Like dude, shut up, you don't even know what the word means. To Crono, a "noob" is an alternate spelling of “newbie,” which refers to an inexperienced person, particularly in the gaming community but also in other online venues. Noob can be used in a friendly, teasing manner, such as one experienced gamer saying to another, “You played that like a noob,” or in a derogatory fashion as a general insult. Other spelling variations include “newb,” “n00b” (using zeros), and “nub.” Generally, the further from “noob” one gets in spelling variation, the greater the intended insult. Otherwise, people think it means idiot and they intend to offend you. What is a "noob" to you?

Fun Fact: A tattoo is an item in WolfTeam in which gives you additional HP or over ability as in: More EXP, more Wolf damage, etc.

Personally for me nub = failure due to ignorance. An example from WoW would be like.

This term is overused so many times that it really has lost it's meaning IMO. Although on a different note some people do not know that there is a difference between newbie and noob. A noob is someone obnoxious, whines, complains, does stupid stuff and does not try at all and acts retarded. Or they think they are so better than everyone else but in reality suck and fail miserably. A newbie on the otherhand is someone new to a game, site, or anything and does not do anything a noob does except they just want to learn how to play the game and are simply just new people who may not know the rules. That is my take on it personally.

Last time I checked, noob was defined as a new player to a game. :/ It's a short version of the word newbie.

Noob used as an insult, implies that no matter how good the player is or how long they have been playing, they are crap at the game and anything they do well must be by chance.

A newb or newbie is a person that actually is new to something but admits as such and is willing to learn.

Noob or nub in the game I play refers to people who use nades or grenade launchers. Then if you use bullets then then call you hack

The people calling others noobs are actually noobs themselves they are just a bunch of cry babies who call others a noob when you kill them.

I also call Noobs like players who uses grenade launchers and all those cheap guns, but then if I have those guns, I might call myself a noob.

I also see that other people call everybody noob. I just think that is hilarious. He just keeps on typing, "Stop being a Noob" or like something, "Hey noob, stop noobing over there."

Also people call other people noobs because they fail, or others just call people noob because they are just whining or complaining.

I just find it annoying and generally start killing anyone who uses the term. Usually shut's em up pretty quick or they go into a tantrum

Like you say it means newbie. I have always know what it mean because when I first saw it I looked the word up in Google.

In online games that I play, newbie and noob are completely different. Noob has come to mean someone stupid and annoying, whereas newbie means someone new to the game.

"Noob" is so overused it doesn't mean anything anymore. I cannot take it as a serious insult, firstly because it sounds so stupid and second because it's used in basically any situation. It's not hurtful.

Anyone who tries to use the word noob as a real insult, I cannot take seriously.

Well, to the looks of it, Crono senses implication from users about him being offended from the term. Actually, it's not the term that angers Crono, it's the fact that they have NO clue at all what the word means. In fact, some people are so ignorant, Crono asks them and they say "Ur Mum" and leave.

I don't usually use word derrogatorily? unless I'm really mad, but I do use the term noob or newbie, to me they are interchangeable. I only use them to describe new players though, I've heard it used in a bad manner but like another post says, the name caller is really the idiot, if someone is acting like an idiot just show them up with skill.

I use "Noob" as a new player/ user... (synonym to "newbie" for me)

It means nothing bad... I use it also when I am calling someone a "Noob" because they did a silly blunder than only a new user would do...

I usually see noob used in an insulting fashion. I don't use terms like that, as I find them offensive. If you can't play a game, you should not resort to insulting someone to make yourself feel better. Play to win or lose and move on.
