When you date, do you actually think about the possibility of marrying the person you are dating?

I might be considered old fashion, but I consider dating to be a preparation for marriage. So if I date, it is with the mindset that this person could be the one that will be my wife.

Marriage is an institution made up to define relationships. That being said, I might get married when I meet that special lady. Successful marriages do not have a good run in my family. My grandmother got divorced from her husband. My mother did the same and my uncle, her brother didn't last with his wife. I doubt it would last, but i will give it a try.

I don't discount the possibility of it happening, however I'm not too keen on spending 1000s of dollar on a ceremony, especially if things go sour. Then again I don't come across too many girls that I even seriously consider girlfriend material. I come from a family that doesn't have much luck with relationships however, so I have that kind of trauma to get past as well.

I certainly am... well, maybe not marriage, but definitely long-term. That's why I chose the girlfriend I have now... even though she's probably moving soon, there's just something different... and unless God chooses otherwise, I'm sure that once we're adults we'll end up together again.
