I have a problem about school. Sure, it's summer, the time where everyone gets out of the torture chamber, has fun, but I have a problem about it. What might it be? Summer school? Camp? Early School? No, the true problem is...

*insert Dramatic Chipmunk music*
MIDDLE SCHOOL.

I am supposed to be going to Middle School next year, and believe me, after seeing the orientation, I had this thought: Keep me in Elementry!
Seriously, I need some help on what to do. You guys are in High School/Collage/Graduated, help me! How do I survive Middle School?

Some problems I have with it:

1. Enourmous building (Ugh..I am lost..)
2. Schedule (WHAT!? OVER 5 TEACHERS IN ONE DAY!? *Faints*
3. Punishment (DON'T TELL MY MOM!!)
4. Teenagers (Great, I am the small fry with the gorillas. D: )
5. After-School Projects That I Like (Yay! I like Bowling!!..wait...it's after school!?)

Seriously, this is a big change for me. Mostly the more then 5 teachers in one day thing. I had 2 teachers in 5th, but now over 5!? Too much for me to grasp! Not even Giygas can grasp that many teachers!..or can he? Anyways, aside from the Earthbound jokes, please help me! What do I do?!

That is just part of life. Might seem hectic at first but it will grow onto you. You think middle school schedule is bad? Wait till you get to high school where its even worse. I had a high school that was so big it was 3 buildings. You had 5 mins to get from point A to point B and it was a pain if it was the buildings furthest from each other.

It's not the amount of teachers or schedule that is bad its the other kids. So keep that in mind there will be some real pricks in middle school a lot worse then elementary school so that is the only thing you should be worried about.

All I can say is this will be a really interesting turning point in your life as it was for me so have fun and look out for the other gorillas

You really shouldn't be so worried about middle school. It's high school you should worry about
The building shouldn't be too big, you'll get used to it after a couple days, maybe two weeks or so at most. The schedule is actually probably a good thing, because just my opinion, I'd rather go to different rooms rather than be stuck in one room all day, and if the one, single teacher was horrible, at least you don't get stuck with the person all day.
And though some people might bully, I doubt you wouldn't be able to get along with at least some of the older students. They won't bite XD
I think you're really overreacting . Actually, Middle school is actually more laid back(at least to me). Plus, when I was in middle school I got along with my teachers pretty well. They didn't treat me like I was some annoying little freak who could never do things right. And you usually would discuss about what you learn instead of just the teachers spoonfeeding you information and expecting you to know it afterwards. Personally, when I discuss the info it helps me remember it better and learn it better.
Well, unless your middle school is dramatically different than mine, then you should be fine . I was nervous too, but I pulled through. I just think you're a tad bit too nervous and paranoid about middle school .
Now, if you have a more specific problem when you actually get into middle school next year, then I'll be glad to help you out too

RedMageCole : Lol man, i remeber when i went to middle school, 4 elementary schools with grads going to middle school, ahhhh good times, one thing to remeber is its just school, and you will have your old friends with you there as well i take it. and dont worry about getting lost, the school people give you atleast 3-5 days to get to know your schedule and find your way around, and if you DO get lost, just go to a classroom and ask a teacher, and dont worry about the older kids, and if anyone decides to give you shyt....just kick them in the nuts and stick them in the jaw with a good hook, they wont bug you again, lol, no dont do that, but yea that was the hardest thing to COUP with in Middle school, was more teachers and more classes, but in a good way you stay less time in one class, so thats a good thing, just do what you did in elemantary and you be fine

How old are the usual middle schoolers? I don't have any idea coz we only have elementary( 6 yrs ) then afterwards high school( 4 yrs. ). ( I'll be 3rd year highschool this June! Woot!) )

Schedules and lots of teachers are one of the best parts there dude!

You'll be out of the safe zone you got used to when you were younger and you're on your own now. It sounds ridiculous at first but it's actually great. Doing decisions on your own, finding new friends, having lotsa lotsa freedom, teachers treating you as an adult rather than a child that they can easily fool with their old tactics, and learning the ability to read people's mind ( no, I'm not joking at this one, lol. What I mean is, you'll know if someone's lying, faking your friendship, happy on the outside but sad on the inside... etc. )

Don't worry about it. I just graduated from Middle School two days ago, and it was great. It is big an intimidating at first (I went from one teacher to six in the span of a year), but trust me, you'll get used to it pretty fast. Anyways, most of the punishments that are serious are things I wouldn't expect you to do anyways- unless you are secretly part of the mafia or just never do your homework, you'll probably never see any punishment in your future. Of course, if you have one of those uniform codes that make no sense ("school skirts must be no less than exactly three inches above the back of the knee"- 1. The back of the knee isn't exactly a definable point, and 2. They actually measure our skirts. Anyways,) you may see some problems, but just make sure your shirt is tucked in and you spit out any gum that you're chewing.
You shouldn't have to worry about size. There are 8th graders in my school shorter than sixth graders, so you probably won't ever stand out for being abnormally short. And if you do, don't sweat it- you'll probably grow sometime during Middle School or maybe High School.
Trust me. Just do your assignments in an orderly fashion, keep up with your homework, and make friends. Remember, its Middle School. 1. Grades don't matter on College Reps that much. No, it doesn't mean that you can just slack off, but an 85 isn't going to ruin your life and send you to work as a cashier at McDonalds. 2. Things aren't so serious. There's no need to over react to any situation and you shouldn't ever have to. Don't make enemies of people that you'll regret later. 3. Make friends. Unless you're coming from a K-12 school, there will be lots of really cool new people in your school that you haven't met before, and its a great time to make some friends that will last you for a while.
There really isn't that big of a change from Elementary to Middle School. Maybe a slightly bigger work load, but it isn't much to fuss over. Teachers aren't going to hammer you with work or Detention on your first week of school, and if you are nice to them, they may never hammer you at all, bringing me to my fourth point- make friends with your teachers. Most of the time, they are really great people that are trying to help you out. Sometimes, the mean, evil teacher that everyone warns you about is just trying to be sarcastic.
However, don't get too wrapped up in school work that you ignore your social life. Yes, you should study and not go out partying, but don't become the kind of person who sits by himself in a corner during lunch- friends are always what helps you during tough times.
Good luck!

~sakura~ : i know this is off topic but you do realize that your userpicture is basically a signature right? lol

any way sakura is right most teachers are good teachers but some can be bad but that is rare. but there are some out there. if a teacher ever tells you that her class is the only one that matters then you should probably transefer out because that teacher is probably a real &!^@#.

Don't worry about it. I only went to Middle School for a single semester before my spleen hit the fan and I got a ton of issues, but I know about it.

The teachers. Oh dear God, it's horrible at first. Very confusing. However, if your school is anything like mine, then there will be teachers standing in the hall when the time to change classes come. You can ask them where _ is, and what _ means. Though hopefully you don't get a b**** teacher like... eh, I have ADHD, the mind tends to wander. In any case, I'm sure you'll do fine. I'd love to be going to middle school. I'd hate the going part and work, but I'd love to be able to see my... DAMN YOU ADHD! Truthfully, this wasn't staged. ADHD just does this crap.

Juliet : Middle schools is roughly age 11-13 (6th-8th grade)

And don't worry, I am sure that you will do just fine. It does take a few days to get used to a new school and new schedule but teachers and staff are really helpful in getting you where you need to go at the start of the school year. I didn't get to go to a proper middle school (my elementary went K-8 at the end of 5th grade) but my district has the 9th graders on their own campus so I got a year of the experience. Honestly, it seems intimidating but you really enjoy it after awhile.

RedMageCole : This is an awesome post. I'm graduating college very soon. And take it from me and many of the others here, middle school isn't that bad at all. In fact, it was my most favorite school that I've completed. Like everyone has said, it's a little chaotic at first because you're not used to the new building or class schedules. But trust me, you'll get used to it soon enough. I dreaded middle school at first but after I got used to everything, such as the schedules, class changes, punishments, etc. I found it to be the most enjoyable experience that I have had in all of my schooling. I met a couple of my best friends there and still talk to them on a daily basis. (I'm 22 now, I was 13 when I met them) You're going to make a ton of new friends, and yes, you may even lose some of your old friends too but that's ok because you'll have your new ones .

And as far as punishment, I guess it all depends on whether you go to a private school or public. I've went to public schools and the punishment wasn't too bad. Honestly, I'm a good person both now and back in middle school, but I did receive lunch time detention virtually everyday. Not just for being bad (I was more ornery then bad), you'll just have those teachers that will be willing to give you detention or some sort of punishment at the drop of a hat. So if you find yourself getting punished a lot more than you did in elementary, don't be suprised or upset. It's just a middle school teacher thing lol

As far as teenagers, there will be plenty of those. And of course some of them may try to pick on you but don't worry about it. Almost everyone gets picked on to some extent. Chances are you won't get picked on but it is a possibility. The best thing to do is just ignore those who are picking on you. A lot of times friends will intervene and help you out. If it gets physical, you definately want to tell a teacher or an adult you can trust. Don't worry about what the other kids will think of you if you tell. It could get much worse if you don't bring up the issue to an adult.

Last but not least, after school projects. I've never had any after school projects, although I know school has been getting a bit ridiculous with burdening students with way too much school work to do so it wouldn't suprise me if middle school age students would have to do after school projects.

In summary: Just relax and enjoy the ride!

Good Luck!

I barely remember middle school, but I do remember high school. What a s***ty time. just remember to do your best in all your classes, because college recruiters DO pay attention to high school grades. Just stay out of trouble and it will be over in four years. Unless you live in a very small town, you most likely will not even see any people you went to high school with. Those hot cheerleaders you had a crush on? Fat and pregnant with their sixth kid ten years later. That jock who picked on you? Got the aforementioned cheerleader pregnant so he missed the chance to go professional and has a s***ty job working as a mechanic. Just remember that in ten years, the only thing that will matter is your grades, as they will send you to college.

In 7th grade things were very different to me, and it took me a while to get used to junior high. but towards the end of it, things were better, you will just need to some time to get used to things. 8th grade was fun for me. So, other words, don't worry, just give it some time, and things ought to get better.

OK, so I don't have all the experience, being homeschooled and all, but I can say this:
Don't fret. Stay cool, do your work, and you'll have nothing to worry about, I guarantee it.
And RMC, you're only like 11?! Whoa, dude, I thought you were 13 or something!

Middle school is easy, just get a planner, write down all the homework for each teacher, finish the homework, turn it in to each teacher, and repeat. You will get used to it.

I am in what that you might called "middle school", I am actually in priamry school, the 5th year (which is the 2ed year for middle).

It is not that bad, but I am not feeling the things you guys are felt though, since I am in a special school, the other kids have autism (I dunno how I get into this school anyways) and they, let's say they see the world differently.

There isn't much problems with bullies for me, so that is how I can't help ya with.

But I am good at acting cool when people insult me, there is this one guy, who likes to insult me, he always fails in some way, ether from me reporting the teacher, to him giving up (mostly the 1st one ).

So if you, next year, have problems with bullies then just report them, reporting is easy and usually solves the problem.

I am actually a Student Council (or what you might know as student prefect, or in "lamer trams" (portal reference ) student leader. )

Just behave, it inst' that hard.

I am not with gorillas that need to shave twice a day too (diary of a wimpy kid ).

edison131 : About that "sits at the corner during lunch" (or breakfast here), I am that kind of person , but that is because, I work with weird people.

Didowe : Er, no, you're in 5th grade by our standards. 2nd year of middle school is 7th. You have to be 12. You're hardly even older than RMC.
