Some of you may notice the SQL error that comes up once in a while. Usually I get to restarting the SQL server within an hour but this usually causes the site to be down for 1 or more hours.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure I have just fixed this problem, we'll see though. Basically what I did is I set it so that when the SQL server goes down, the server automatically restarts the SQL server so that I don't have to be here to restart it myself. If the SQL server is still down after 2 failed attempts of restarting it, it'll just restart the server and that will almost always fix the problem.

If anyone notices that SQL error come up leaving the board inaccessible (after this fix I just did), please let me know.

I think there might come a time when the board itself and the RGR need to be on different servers.

Cause the board could work amazingly well on a very small/weak server compared to what the RGR needs.

Just tossing the idea out there.

I would hold off on upgrading a server this is most likely a optimization issue that can be fixed.

I think its more of an SQL issue then server issue. Server seems fine, I think I would split the database in 2. Make a new database specifically for the RGR.

Doing this would not really fix the strain on the server BUT it would fix the strain on the database and that is the issue here. So optimizing the queries is one option or you can create a new database and see how that goes.

So I guess its safe to say its Google Bots fault But maybe still optimize the RGR without having to decrease the bot activity.

Those errors joe got are all related to same issue. I've seen those a lot before when the old server keep going in and out constantly.
